Use hair growth lotion and hair growth serum?

Are there any side effects on the scalp from using hair growth tonics and serums? (I am considering using VIRTUE Flourish Density Booster and Grow Gorgeous Intense Hair Density Serum.) I previously started picking at my scalp suddenly, causing wounds and pain while washing my hair, which led to significant hair loss.
When I visited a dermatologist, I showed them my scalp, and they prescribed anti-inflammatory medication.
I have since picked less, experienced less hair loss, and have not felt pain while washing my hair, and inflammation has decreased.
However, my hair is gradually becoming finer and softer, which concerns me, so I want to purchase hair growth tonics or serums to assist.

As long as there are no allergies, there are generally no significant side effects.

When considering the use of hair growth products like VIRTUE Flourish Density Booster and Grow Gorgeous Intense Serum, it's essential to understand both their potential benefits and side effects, particularly concerning scalp health.
First, let's address the potential side effects of these products. Generally, hair growth serums and tonics are formulated to stimulate hair follicles and promote hair density. However, they can sometimes lead to adverse reactions, especially if the scalp is already sensitive or damaged. Common side effects may include:
1. Irritation and Redness: Some ingredients in hair growth products can cause irritation, leading to redness or a burning sensation on the scalp. This is particularly true for individuals with pre-existing scalp conditions or those who have previously experienced scalp injuries, as you mentioned with your history of scratching.

2. Allergic Reactions: If you have sensitive skin or a history of allergies, it's possible to develop an allergic reaction to certain ingredients in these products. Symptoms can include itching, swelling, and hives.

3. Dryness or Flaking: Some formulations may lead to dryness or flaking of the scalp, which can exacerbate any existing conditions. This is particularly concerning for individuals who have already experienced scalp trauma or inflammation.

4. Increased Shedding: Initially, some users may experience increased hair shedding when starting a new hair growth product. This phenomenon, often referred to as "shedding," can be alarming but is sometimes a part of the hair growth cycle as weaker hairs are pushed out to make way for new growth.

Given your history of scalp issues, including inflammation and pain during washing, it's crucial to approach the use of these products cautiously. Here are some recommendations:
- Patch Test: Before fully applying the product, conduct a patch test on a small area of your scalp to check for any adverse reactions. If you experience irritation or discomfort, discontinue use immediately.

- Consult a Dermatologist: Since you have a history of scalp issues, it would be wise to consult with a dermatologist before starting any new hair growth products. They can provide personalized advice based on your scalp condition and hair loss pattern.

- Focus on Scalp Health: Prioritize products that promote scalp health. Look for soothing ingredients like aloe vera, chamomile, or tea tree oil, which can help calm irritation and support healing.

- Gentle Application: When applying hair growth products, do so gently to avoid further irritating your scalp. Avoid vigorous rubbing or scratching.

- Monitor Your Scalp Condition: Keep an eye on how your scalp responds to the new products. If you notice any worsening of your symptoms, such as increased pain, redness, or flaking, it may be best to stop using the product and seek medical advice.

In summary, while hair growth products can be beneficial for enhancing hair density, they can also pose risks, particularly for individuals with sensitive or previously damaged scalps. Given your concerns about hair thinning and scalp health, it is advisable to proceed with caution and seek professional guidance to ensure that you choose the safest and most effective options for your specific situation.
