Yellow-green discharge
Hello Doctor, I was diagnosed with a chocolate cyst last month.
Previously, I had a lot of dark brown or mucous-like discharge, almost daily for the past two months before seeing the doctor.
I have been on Relugolix treatment for about three weeks now, and I haven't experienced any dark brown discharge this week.
However, in the past few days, I have noticed yellow-green discharge, which is not much (but still present), typically about a small patch of 2-3 square centimeters on my panty liner.
It doesn't have a strong odor and is not very itchy.
I have occasionally had this type of discharge over the past six months to a year, usually improving after my period but reappearing after some time.
I have not had any sexual intercourse.
I would like to know if this type of discharge is normal and what it might indicate.
Should I see a doctor again for confirmation?

Yellow-green discharge can be a common concern for many women, especially after undergoing treatment for conditions like ovarian cysts or endometriosis. In your case, having been diagnosed with a chocolate cyst and currently undergoing treatment with Relugolix, it is understandable to be vigilant about any changes in your discharge.
Firstly, it is important to note that vaginal discharge can vary significantly among women and can change due to hormonal fluctuations, infections, or other medical conditions. The yellow-green color of your discharge, especially if it is not accompanied by a strong odor or itching, may not necessarily indicate a serious problem. However, it can sometimes suggest the presence of an infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or a sexually transmitted infection (STI), particularly if the color change is new or if there are other symptoms present.
Since you mentioned that you have had this type of discharge intermittently over the past year, it may be related to your hormonal changes or the treatment you are currently receiving. Relugolix is a medication that works by reducing the levels of hormones that stimulate the ovaries, which can lead to changes in your menstrual cycle and vaginal discharge. The absence of red-brown discharge since starting the treatment is a positive sign, indicating that the treatment may be effective in managing your symptoms related to the chocolate cyst.
However, it is essential to monitor any changes in your discharge closely. If the yellow-green discharge persists, increases in volume, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as a strong odor, itching, burning sensation, or pelvic pain, it would be prudent to consult your healthcare provider. They may recommend a pelvic examination or laboratory tests to rule out any infections or other underlying issues.
In summary, while yellow-green discharge can sometimes be normal, especially after treatment for ovarian cysts, it is crucial to remain attentive to any accompanying symptoms. If you have any concerns or if the discharge changes in character, it is advisable to seek medical advice. Regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider are essential, especially after significant treatments like those for ovarian cysts, to ensure that your recovery is on track and to address any new symptoms that may arise.
