Yellow-green discharge
I was diagnosed with endometriosis at a large hospital.
I experience yellow-green, thick discharge before and after my menstrual period, but it is not abundant.
The hospital said it was not a concern, and I do not have significant itching, only some itching in the pubic hair area.
My last menstrual period ended around the 25th, and in the past few days, I have started to notice yellow-green discharge again.
I would like to know if this could be considered vaginitis.

Hello, the amount of vaginal discharge can vary depending on individual physiology, and its quantity and characteristics can change throughout the menstrual cycle.
For instance, right after menstruation, the discharge is usually minimal and gradually increases.
During ovulation, the discharge becomes more abundant, appearing clear, stretchy, and elastic, with no odor.
After ovulation, the discharge decreases again but becomes thicker.
Leading up to menstruation, the discharge increases once more, and it may have a slight yellow or blood-tinged color, possibly with a faint fishy odor.
If your symptoms persist or worsen, it is advisable to consult a physician for examination and treatment.
Thank you! Wishing you peace and health.

Yellow-green discharge can indeed be a sign of vaginal inflammation or infection, particularly if accompanied by other symptoms such as itching, burning, or an unusual odor. In your case, given your history of endometriosis and the recent appearance of yellow-green discharge, it is important to consider several factors.
Firstly, the color and consistency of vaginal discharge can vary significantly due to hormonal changes, menstrual cycles, and various infections. Yellow-green discharge is often associated with bacterial vaginosis or sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as trichomoniasis. However, it can also be a result of normal physiological changes, especially in the context of endometriosis, which can cause inflammation and changes in discharge.
Your description of the discharge being thick and yellow-green, particularly around the time of your menstrual cycle, raises some concerns. While you mentioned that you do not experience significant itching or discomfort, the presence of any unusual discharge warrants further investigation. It is also worth noting that even mild symptoms can indicate an underlying issue, especially in individuals with conditions like endometriosis, which can complicate the clinical picture.
The itching you mentioned in the pubic area could be related to several factors, including irritation from clothing, hygiene products, or even a mild yeast infection. However, if the discharge persists or worsens, or if you develop additional symptoms such as pain during intercourse, it is crucial to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough examination, including a pelvic exam and possibly laboratory tests, to determine the exact cause of your symptoms.
In terms of management, if an infection is confirmed, appropriate treatment will depend on the specific pathogen identified. For bacterial infections, antibiotics may be prescribed, while antifungal treatments are used for yeast infections. If the discharge is determined to be related to hormonal fluctuations or endometriosis, your healthcare provider may discuss options for managing your endometriosis symptoms, which could include hormonal therapies or other interventions.
In summary, while yellow-green discharge can be a sign of vaginal inflammation or infection, it is essential to consider the broader context of your health, particularly with your history of endometriosis. Monitoring your symptoms and seeking timely medical advice will help ensure that any potential issues are addressed promptly. If you have any concerns or if your symptoms change, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance.
