Penile deformity after using a penile ring?
I am curious about an issue I have been experiencing after using a penile ring.
I'm not sure if it was too tight or if I used it for too long, but the marks left on my penis have not faded or returned to normal.
Although my erectile function seems to be normal, I am very concerned about these three ring marks.
Could this indicate any problems? I wonder if being 25 years old at the time contributed to my erections being very firm and tight, and if now, at 25, my erections are naturally less rigid.
I worry that these three marks might affect something.
It has been almost three years since this happened, and I still can't stop thinking about it.
I hope the doctor can help clarify my concerns.
My family keeps reassuring me by saying, "Just ignore it, reduce masturbation, and it will get better." However, the marks are still there; when not erect, it looks like my penis is divided into three sections.
Even when erect, there are only slight indentations, and it feels less firm, though it still gets hard (the difference feels like 100% to 90-95%).
I would appreciate any help from the doctor to resolve this psychological issue, as I am almost 28 now and this continues to trouble me.
Thank you, doctor.

Concerns about penile deformation after using rings, particularly in the context of tightness and prolonged use, are valid and warrant careful consideration. The use of penile rings, often referred to as constriction rings, is common for enhancing erections by restricting blood flow out of the penis. However, improper use can lead to complications, including bruising, pain, and potential long-term effects on penile health.
Firstly, it’s important to understand that the marks or indentations you are experiencing are likely due to the pressure exerted by the rings. If the rings were too tight or left on for an extended period, they could cause temporary changes in the skin and underlying tissues. In most cases, these marks should fade over time as the skin heals and blood circulation normalizes. However, if the indentations persist for three years, it may indicate that the tissue has been affected more significantly.
The concern about erectile function is also pertinent. While you report that your erectile function remains largely intact, the sensation of decreased hardness (from 100% to 90-95%) can be distressing. This could be attributed to several factors, including psychological stress, anxiety about the appearance of your penis, or even physical changes resulting from the prolonged use of constriction devices. Psychological factors can significantly impact sexual performance and perception, leading to a cycle of anxiety that may exacerbate the issue.
Regarding your specific concerns about the long-term effects of using penile rings, here are a few points to consider:
1. Tissue Health: Prolonged or excessive pressure can lead to changes in the penile tissue, including scarring or fibrosis. If the rings were used frequently and too tightly, this could potentially lead to changes in the elasticity of the tissue, which might explain the persistent indentations.
2. Erectile Function: While it is reassuring that your erectile function appears normal, any perceived decrease in hardness should be evaluated. Factors such as anxiety, stress, and even lifestyle changes can contribute to changes in erectile quality. It may be beneficial to discuss these concerns with a healthcare provider who specializes in sexual health.
3. Psychological Impact: The psychological burden of worrying about your appearance can lead to performance anxiety, which may further affect your sexual health. It’s important to address these feelings, possibly with the help of a mental health professional or a sex therapist who can provide strategies to cope with these concerns.
4. Consultation with a Specialist: Given the duration of your concerns, it may be wise to consult a urologist or a specialist in sexual medicine. They can perform a thorough evaluation to rule out any underlying conditions and provide tailored advice based on your specific situation.
5. Self-Care and Patience: While family members may suggest that the marks will fade with time, it’s also important to practice self-care. This includes avoiding further irritation to the area, maintaining good hygiene, and perhaps exploring alternative methods for enhancing sexual experiences that do not involve constriction.
In conclusion, while the use of penile rings can be beneficial for some, it is crucial to use them correctly and to be aware of the potential for complications. If you continue to experience concerns about the appearance of your penis or changes in erectile function, seeking professional advice is the best course of action. Remember, sexual health is an important aspect of overall well-being, and addressing these concerns can lead to improved confidence and satisfaction.
