Anxiety disorder medication change?
Hello Doctor, I have been on medication for anxiety for three years.
Recently, due to issues with libido, I switched from the SSRI Escitalopram (Escipro) to the NDRI Bupropion (Buporin) about a month ago.
In the past few days, I have started to feel dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, tremors, eye pressure, and increased heart rate.
Could this be a side effect? Additionally, I would like to know if it is safe to continue taking Vardenafil (Vetawon) while on Escitalopram (Escipro).
Could there be any interactions? Thank you.

If the symptoms have appeared after taking the medication for more than a month, it is less likely to be a side effect of the drug, as side effects typically occur shortly after starting the medication.
During the period of taking Escipro, continuing to take Vetawon generally does not result in significant interactions.
However, if the medication is intolerable due to erectile dysfunction, there are other alternatives available, so there is no need to take additional medications for erectile dysfunction, which may have their own side effects.

Managing anxiety medication can be quite complex, especially when it comes to understanding potential side effects and drug interactions. Based on your description, it seems you have recently switched from an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) called Escitalopram (易適普) to an NDRI (Norepinephrine-Dopamine Reuptake Inhibitor) known as Bupropion (必博寧). This change in medication can lead to various side effects, particularly during the adjustment period.
The symptoms you are experiencing—dizziness, fatigue, tremors, eye pressure, and increased heart rate—can indeed be side effects associated with Bupropion. While Bupropion is generally well-tolerated, it can cause side effects such as anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia, especially during the initial weeks of treatment. The dizziness and increased heart rate may also be exacerbated by anxiety itself, which can fluctuate during medication changes. It is essential to monitor these symptoms closely and discuss them with your healthcare provider, as they may indicate that the dosage needs adjustment or that the medication may not be the best fit for you.
Regarding your question about taking Vetawon (佳倍壯) while on Escitalopram, it is crucial to consider the potential for drug interactions. Vetawon, which is often used to enhance sexual function, may have effects on neurotransmitters that could interact with SSRIs. While there is no direct contraindication, combining these medications could potentially lead to increased side effects or diminished efficacy of either medication. It is always best to consult with your prescribing physician or a pharmacist before adding any new medication to your regimen, especially when dealing with psychiatric medications.
In general, when managing anxiety and depression with medications, it is vital to maintain open communication with your healthcare provider. They can help you navigate the complexities of medication management, including adjusting dosages, switching medications, and monitoring for side effects or interactions. Additionally, lifestyle modifications such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, and mindfulness practices can complement your medication regimen and improve overall mental health.
If you continue to experience troubling side effects or if your anxiety worsens, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider. They can provide guidance tailored to your specific situation and help ensure that your treatment plan is effective and safe. Remember, managing mental health is a journey, and finding the right balance of medications can take time.
