White spots on the base of the penis?

Recently, I noticed white spots at the base of my penis, which are painful to touch.
I had completely removed all the hair, and then on Friday, I had unprotected sex with a girl.
On Monday afternoon, I started feeling pain down there and discovered the white spots.
What could be the issue? Thank you.

More Info

The presence of painful white spots at the base of the penis can be concerning and may indicate several potential issues. Based on your description, it seems you have experienced some discomfort and the appearance of white spots following unprotected sexual activity. Here are some possible explanations for your symptoms:
1. Folliculitis: This condition occurs when hair follicles become inflamed, often due to bacterial infection. If you recently shaved or removed hair, the irritation could lead to folliculitis, which may present as red or white bumps that can be painful or itchy.

2. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, benign white or flesh-colored bumps that can appear around the corona of the glans penis. They are normal anatomical variations and are not associated with any disease or infection. However, they can sometimes be mistaken for other conditions.

3. Genital Warts: Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), genital warts can appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps. They can be itchy or painful and may develop after unprotected sexual contact with an infected partner.

4. Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV): If the white spots are accompanied by blisters or sores, it could indicate a herpes infection. This viral infection can cause painful lesions and is often transmitted through sexual contact.

5. Candidiasis (Yeast Infection): Though more common in women, men can also develop yeast infections, especially if they have risk factors such as diabetes or a compromised immune system. Symptoms may include itching, irritation, and white patches.

6. Balanitis: This is an inflammation of the glans (the head of the penis) that can be caused by infections, irritants, or poor hygiene. Symptoms may include redness, swelling, and white patches or discharge.

Given the recent onset of your symptoms following unprotected sexual activity, it is crucial to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination, take a detailed history, and possibly conduct tests to determine the exact cause of your symptoms.
In the meantime, here are some general recommendations:
- Avoid Irritation: Refrain from further irritation of the area. Avoid tight clothing and any products that may cause additional irritation.

- Maintain Hygiene: Keep the area clean and dry. Use mild soap and water for cleansing.

- Avoid Sexual Activity: Until you have been evaluated by a healthcare provider, it is advisable to avoid sexual activity to prevent potential transmission of infections.

In conclusion, while there are several potential causes for the painful white spots at the base of your penis, a proper diagnosis from a healthcare professional is essential for appropriate treatment. Early intervention can help manage symptoms effectively and prevent complications.
