Is it a miscarriage?
I had my menstrual period from April 24 to April 27.
Then, I experienced light bleeding in May.
I had unprotected intercourse with ejaculation on June 19 and 20, but my period did not come in June.
On July 7, I took a pregnancy test and got one dark line and one faint line.
I went to the hospital on July 13 for another test and received the same result.
The doctor mentioned it was about three weeks along and advised a follow-up appointment in two weeks.
However, on July 16, I suddenly got my period, and on July 17, I passed a blood clot about the size of a 50 NT dollar coin.
I would like to know if this indicates a miscarriage.
Should I still go for the follow-up appointment?

It sounds like you're experiencing a very concerning situation, and it's completely understandable to have questions and seek clarity regarding your health and potential pregnancy. Based on the timeline you've provided, it appears that you had a normal menstrual cycle from April 24 to April 27, and then you had unprotected intercourse in June, with a missed period in July. The positive pregnancy tests you took on July 7 and the doctor's assessment indicating you were about three weeks pregnant suggest that you were indeed pregnant at that time.
However, the sudden onset of bleeding on July 16, especially with the presence of a blood clot the size of a fifty-cent coin, raises significant concerns about a possible miscarriage. In early pregnancy, bleeding can occur for various reasons, and while some women experience light spotting or bleeding without any complications, heavier bleeding accompanied by clots can indicate a miscarriage or other issues such as an ectopic pregnancy or a molar pregnancy.
Here are some key points to consider regarding your situation:
1. Miscarriage Signs: Common signs of a miscarriage include heavy bleeding (more than a light spotting), passing clots or tissue, and cramping or pain in the lower abdomen. The presence of a blood clot, especially one of significant size, can be a strong indicator of a miscarriage.
2. Follow-Up Care: It is crucial to follow up with your healthcare provider after experiencing bleeding during early pregnancy. They may recommend an ultrasound to assess the status of the pregnancy and to check for any retained tissue in the uterus. This is important for your health, as retained tissue can lead to complications such as infection.
3. Emotional Support: Experiencing a potential miscarriage can be emotionally challenging. It’s important to seek support from friends, family, or counseling services if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed.
4. Future Pregnancies: If it is confirmed that you have had a miscarriage, it’s essential to discuss with your doctor about when it is safe to try for another pregnancy. Most women can conceive again after a miscarriage, but your doctor can provide personalized advice based on your health history.
5. Monitoring Symptoms: If you continue to experience heavy bleeding, severe pain, or any other concerning symptoms, seek immediate medical attention. It’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health.
In summary, based on the information you've provided, it is possible that you may have experienced a miscarriage, especially given the timing and symptoms. It is highly advisable to return to your healthcare provider for further evaluation and to ensure that you receive the appropriate care. They can provide you with the best guidance moving forward, both for your physical health and emotional well-being.
