If a condom is put on inside out and then reversed and worn again, is there a risk of pregnancy?

On October 6, during my first time with my girlfriend, the condom was put on inside out and was immediately re-worn.
Since it was our first time, penetration was only about one-third, and I pulled out shortly after.
I would like to know what the chances of pregnancy are in this situation.
This month, my girlfriend has consumed a lot of cold food and experienced some light bleeding outside of her menstrual period (her period was originally due on October 9, and she had some light bleeding on September 29, which has now lasted more than three days).

Niming, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2023/10/12

When it comes to the question of whether wearing a condom inside out can increase the risk of pregnancy, it’s essential to understand how condoms function and the factors that contribute to pregnancy risk.
Condoms are designed to act as a barrier method of contraception, preventing sperm from entering the vagina and fertilizing an egg. When a condom is worn correctly, it effectively reduces the likelihood of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). However, if a condom is put on inside out, it may not provide the same level of protection, especially if it has come into contact with pre-ejaculate fluid or semen before being turned around and re-applied.

In your case, you mentioned that during your first sexual encounter with your girlfriend, the condom was initially worn inside out but was quickly removed and re-applied correctly. Since you only penetrated about one-third of the way and then withdrew, the risk of pregnancy is relatively low, but not entirely absent. Here are some key points to consider:
1. Pre-ejaculate Fluid: Even if the condom was worn inside out for a short time, pre-ejaculate fluid can contain sperm. If this fluid came into contact with the vaginal area before the condom was correctly applied, there is a potential risk of pregnancy.

2. Timing of Ovulation: The timing of your girlfriend's menstrual cycle is crucial. If her period is expected around October 9 and she experienced some bleeding on September 29, it could indicate that her cycle is irregular or that she is experiencing some form of hormonal fluctuation. If she was nearing ovulation during your encounter, the risk of pregnancy would be higher than if she was in her menstrual phase.

3. Withdrawal Method: You mentioned that you withdrew after a short penetration. The withdrawal method, while it can reduce the risk of pregnancy, is not foolproof. Sperm can still be present in pre-ejaculate fluid, which may lead to pregnancy if it comes into contact with the vaginal area.

4. Menstrual Irregularities: The bleeding your girlfriend experienced could be due to various factors, including hormonal changes, stress, or other health issues. It’s important to note that bleeding outside of her expected menstrual cycle does not necessarily indicate that she is not pregnant, especially if it is lighter than usual.

5. Pregnancy Testing: If there is concern about potential pregnancy, it is advisable for your girlfriend to take a home pregnancy test after her expected period date. This will provide a clearer indication of whether or not she is pregnant.

In summary, while the risk of pregnancy from wearing a condom inside out and only partial penetration is low, it is not zero. Factors such as pre-ejaculate fluid, the timing of her menstrual cycle, and any irregular bleeding should be taken into account. If there are any concerns about pregnancy or irregular menstrual cycles, consulting a healthcare professional for personalized advice and potential testing is always a good step.
