Regarding pregnancy testing?

Hello Doctor, on the night of November 4th, I had unprotected intercourse with ejaculation outside, and since it was during my ovulation period, I took the emergency contraceptive pill on the morning of November 5th.
Today, November 15th, I took a pregnancy test which came back negative, but I am experiencing more severe bloating and gastroesophageal reflux.
I would like to ask you: 1.
Is the accuracy of the pregnancy test today (11 days after intercourse) reliable? 2.
If I take another pregnancy test on November 17th, will it be accurate? 3.
Are the bloating and gastroesophageal reflux symptoms of premenstrual syndrome or early signs of pregnancy? Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.
Thank you.

Ting, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2023/11/15

Hello, you should not be pregnant.
Wait for another week, and if your period still hasn't arrived, you can take another test.
Wishing you good health.

When it comes to understanding pregnancy tests, their accuracy, timing, and the symptoms associated with early pregnancy, there are several important factors to consider.
1. Accuracy of Pregnancy Tests: Home pregnancy tests are generally quite reliable, especially when used correctly. Most tests are designed to detect the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. The accuracy of these tests increases significantly after a missed period. In your case, since you tested 11 days after unprotected intercourse, the test may still be somewhat accurate, but it is advisable to wait a few more days for the hormone levels to rise sufficiently for detection.
2. Timing of Testing: If you plan to test again on November 17, that would be approximately 13 days post-intercourse. This timing is generally considered more reliable, as hCG levels typically double every 48 to 72 hours in early pregnancy. Testing too early can lead to false negatives, especially if implantation has just occurred. Therefore, waiting until after your expected period or at least a few days after the initial test can provide a clearer picture of whether you are pregnant.

3. Symptoms of Bloating and Gastroesophageal Reflux: The symptoms you are experiencing, such as bloating and gastroesophageal reflux, can be attributed to various factors. These symptoms are common in premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and can also occur in early pregnancy due to hormonal changes. Progesterone, which increases during the luteal phase of your menstrual cycle and in early pregnancy, can cause gastrointestinal symptoms like bloating and reflux. However, these symptoms alone are not definitive indicators of pregnancy.
In summary, while your initial pregnancy test may not be conclusive, retesting closer to your expected period will provide a more accurate result. The symptoms you are experiencing could be related to either PMS or early pregnancy, but they are not definitive signs of either condition. If you continue to have concerns or if your symptoms worsen, it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance.
Additionally, if you are considering the use of emergency contraception, it is important to remember that while it can be effective in preventing pregnancy when taken shortly after unprotected intercourse, it is not 100% guaranteed. Monitoring your menstrual cycle and being aware of any changes can also help you better understand your reproductive health.
If you have further questions or need clarification, please feel free to ask. Your health and well-being are important, and understanding these aspects can help you make informed decisions.
