Urief 4mg / Duration of retrograde ejaculation
Last week, I underwent extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy due to ureteral stones.
After the procedure, the doctor prescribed Urief/4mg, Rowapraxin/10mg, Transamin/250mg, and Tonlief/100mg.
I took a dose at home, but on the same day post-surgery, I returned to the emergency department due to severe pain that could not be controlled by the pain medication (Opicet).
Subsequently, the emergency pain relief led to persistent vomiting, and I was unable to eat or drink, which resulted in stopping the medications for at least three days.
However, after three days without medication, I noticed during my first attempt at masturbation post-surgery that I was unable to ejaculate.
After researching online, I found that this might be a side effect of Urief 4mg causing retrograde ejaculation.
Even though I have stopped the medication for several days, I still cannot ejaculate, and I experience discomfort and a feeling of being forced to hold back during climax, along with chest tightness.
I would like to ask: 1.
What is the maximum duration for recovery from retrograde ejaculation symptoms after stopping Urief/4mg? 2.
When retrograde ejaculation occurs due to medication, can I still masturbate normally, or should I wait until the side effects resolve before attempting? 3.
Is there a possibility that multiple instances of retrograde ejaculation could lead to a recurrence after the medication side effects have resolved?

Hello:
1.
Urief/4mg can cause retrograde ejaculation symptoms.
After stopping the medication, how long might it take to recover? -- It is possible to experience either a lack of sperm or a decrease in semen volume, but since it was taken only once and still had effects three days later, it shouldn't be the case.
I believe it may depend on whether there are other underlying causes.
2.
When retrograde ejaculation occurs due to medication, can I still masturbate normally? Or should I wait until the side effects subside before masturbating? -- There is no impact; it’s just that the semen volume may be absent or reduced.
3.
Could multiple instances of retrograde ejaculation lead to a recurrence after the medication side effects resolve? -- Generally, stopping the medication allows for recovery.
Your situation is uncommon, so I recommend a follow-up consultation.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
Retrograde ejaculation is a condition where semen enters the bladder instead of being expelled through the urethra during ejaculation. This can occur as a side effect of certain medications, including Urief (silodosin), which is commonly prescribed for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Understanding the implications of this condition, especially after recent medical procedures, is crucial for recovery and overall sexual health.
1. Duration of Symptoms Post-Urief: After discontinuing Urief, the duration for recovery from retrograde ejaculation can vary significantly among individuals. Generally, most side effects related to Urief, including retrograde ejaculation, may resolve within a few days to a few weeks after stopping the medication. However, in some cases, it can take longer, potentially up to several weeks. The exact timeline for recovery can depend on various factors, including individual physiology, the duration of medication use, and overall health. If symptoms persist beyond a few weeks, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation.
2. Normal Sexual Activity During Retrograde Ejaculation: While experiencing retrograde ejaculation, it is still possible to engage in sexual activity, including masturbation. However, the experience may be different, as the sensation of climax may not include the typical release of semen. Some individuals report discomfort or a feeling of pressure during orgasm when retrograde ejaculation occurs. If this sensation is uncomfortable or concerning, it may be wise to wait until the side effects have fully resolved before resuming sexual activities. Communication with a partner about these changes can also help alleviate any anxiety surrounding sexual performance.
3. Risk of Recurrence: The concern about whether multiple instances of retrograde ejaculation could lead to a recurrence of the condition after the medication's side effects have resolved is understandable. However, retrograde ejaculation caused by medication is typically a reversible side effect. Once the medication is discontinued, the body usually returns to its normal function. There is no evidence to suggest that experiencing retrograde ejaculation multiple times would lead to a long-term change in ejaculation patterns. If retrograde ejaculation continues after stopping the medication, it may indicate other underlying issues that should be assessed by a healthcare professional.
In summary, while retrograde ejaculation can be an unsettling experience, it is often a temporary side effect of medications like Urief. Recovery times can vary, and engaging in sexual activity during this period is generally safe, though it may feel different. If symptoms persist or cause significant discomfort, it is essential to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice and potential alternative treatments. Maintaining open communication with healthcare professionals about any concerns can help ensure a better understanding of the situation and appropriate management of symptoms.
