Papules on the foreskin?
Hello doctor, I would like to ask about the papules on the inner side of my foreskin.
They have been present for about a year and a half, are not painful or itchy, but seem to be getting larger.
Could this be genital warts, or is it another type of lesion? Here is a link to a photo of the papules: https://ppt.cc/fKr4Dx.
Thank you for your response.

When it comes to bumps on the inner foreskin, there are several potential causes, and it's important to approach this topic with both caution and understanding. Based on your description of the bumps being present for over a year, not causing pain or itching, and showing signs of growth, there are a few possibilities to consider.
One common cause of bumps in this area is Pearly Penile Papules. These are small, benign growths that are often found around the corona of the glans and are completely harmless. They are a normal anatomical variant and do not require treatment unless they cause psychological distress.
Another possibility is Fordyce Spots, which are small, painless, pale bumps that can appear on the shaft of the penis and inner foreskin. These are sebaceous glands that are not associated with any disease and are also harmless.
However, given your concern about the bumps potentially being related to genital warts (caused by the human papillomavirus, or HPV), it is crucial to consider this possibility seriously. Genital warts can appear as small, flesh-colored or gray bumps and may grow in clusters. They are typically painless but can sometimes cause discomfort depending on their location and size.
Other conditions that could cause bumps on the inner foreskin include folliculitis, which is inflammation of the hair follicles, or cysts, which can form due to blocked glands. In rare cases, more serious conditions such as penile cancer could present with changes in the skin, but this is less common and usually accompanied by other symptoms.
Given that the bumps have been present for a significant amount of time and are changing in size, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a proper evaluation. A dermatologist or urologist can perform a physical examination and may recommend a biopsy if there is any suspicion of a more serious condition. They can also provide you with peace of mind by confirming whether the bumps are benign or if they require treatment.
In summary, while there are several benign explanations for the bumps you are experiencing, it is essential to seek medical advice to rule out any potential concerns, especially since they have been present for over a year and are changing. Early diagnosis and treatment can help address any issues and alleviate anxiety regarding your health.
