Are you pregnant?

On February 12, my boyfriend touched my lower body, and there might have been contact with pre-ejaculate fluid, but neither his genitals nor his hand penetrated.
My period is about 20 days late; it just ended yesterday.
Recently, I've been experiencing bloating, and I can feel a pulsing sensation in my abdomen, which seems to be near the aorta.
Sometimes, I feel a bit nauseous when I smell food, but I don't actually vomit (it's not food I usually enjoy).
I'm unsure if I might be pregnant.

A, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2024/03/27

More Info

When it comes to the possibility of pregnancy, it is completely normal to experience a range of emotions and concerns, especially if you are noticing changes in your body. Based on the information you've provided, it seems you are experiencing some common symptoms that can be associated with early pregnancy, such as a delayed menstrual cycle, abdominal bloating, and changes in your sense of smell. However, these symptoms can also be attributed to other factors, including hormonal changes, stress, or even gastrointestinal issues.

Firstly, the fact that your period is late by about 20 days is significant. A missed period is often one of the first signs of pregnancy, but it is essential to consider other factors that might contribute to this delay. Stress, changes in weight, illness, or changes in routine can all affect your menstrual cycle. If you have had unprotected sexual contact, even if it was just touching, there is a possibility of pregnancy, albeit low if there was no direct penetration.

The sensations you describe in your abdomen, such as bloating and feeling a "pulsation," could be related to various factors. The feeling of pulsation might be related to your heartbeat or blood flow, especially if you are feeling it near the area of your abdominal aorta. Bloating can be a common symptom of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) or early pregnancy, but it can also be caused by dietary changes, digestive issues, or anxiety.

Regarding your aversion to certain food smells, this is another symptom that can occur during early pregnancy due to hormonal changes. Many women report heightened sensitivity to smells during this time, which can lead to nausea or food aversions, even without vomiting.

To determine whether you are pregnant, the most reliable method is to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are designed to detect the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. If you take a test and it is positive, it is advisable to schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider for confirmation and to discuss your options moving forward.

If the test is negative and your period still does not arrive, it would be wise to consult with a healthcare professional to explore other potential causes for your symptoms. They can provide guidance and support, whether you are pregnant or not.

In the meantime, it is essential to take care of your mental health. Anxiety and worry about potential pregnancy can be overwhelming. Engaging in relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, yoga, or mindfulness meditation, can help alleviate some of this stress. Additionally, talking to someone you trust about your feelings can provide emotional support.

In summary, while you are experiencing symptoms that could indicate pregnancy, they are not definitive on their own. Taking a home pregnancy test and consulting with a healthcare provider will give you the clarity you need. Regardless of the outcome, addressing your concerns and managing your anxiety is crucial for your overall well-being.
