Post-Injection Bleeding After Menstrual Induction - Obstetrics and Gynecology

After receiving the menstrual induction injection, menstruation arrives immediately?

I would like to ask the doctor, on March 22, I visited a gynecologist because my period had not come for a long time.
The doctor prescribed me five days of Medroxyprogesterone.
After finishing the medication on March 27, my period still did not come.
Until April 5 (today), I returned for a follow-up and received an injection to induce menstruation.
After the injection, I noticed a little bit of bleeding when I got home.
I read online that menstruation may come about a week after the injection.
I would like to know if the current bleeding is normal, or if this bleeding is due to the oral medication causing my period to start, and whether the injection will have any effect on this?

After receiving an injection for menstrual induction, it's not uncommon to experience some bleeding or spotting. This can be attributed to several factors, including the hormonal changes induced by the medication and the injection itself. In your case, since you took Medroxyprogesterone (美得能) for five days and then received an injection on March 27, the bleeding you noticed after the injection could be a result of the hormonal adjustments your body is undergoing.

Medroxyprogesterone is a synthetic form of progesterone, which is often used to regulate menstrual cycles. When you take this medication, it can lead to a withdrawal bleed once you stop taking it, or it can prepare the uterine lining for a potential menstrual period. The injection you received is likely a form of hormonal therapy designed to induce menstruation, and it can take some time for your body to respond to these hormones.

The bleeding you are experiencing could be a sign that your body is beginning to respond to the hormonal treatment. It's important to note that while some spotting or light bleeding can be normal after such treatments, you should monitor the amount and duration of the bleeding. If the bleeding becomes heavy, or if you experience severe pain or other concerning symptoms, it would be advisable to contact your healthcare provider.

Regarding the timing of your menstrual cycle, it is indeed common for menstruation to occur a week or more after receiving an injection for menstrual induction. The exact timing can vary significantly from person to person, depending on individual hormonal levels and how your body reacts to the treatment. Therefore, the slight bleeding you are experiencing does not necessarily indicate that your period has started, but it could be a precursor to your menstrual cycle resuming.

In summary, the light bleeding you are experiencing after the injection is likely a normal response to the hormonal changes induced by both the oral medication and the injection. It is essential to keep track of your symptoms and communicate with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns or if your symptoms change. They can provide you with the best guidance based on your specific situation and medical history. If you have further questions or if the bleeding persists, do not hesitate to reach out to your doctor for a follow-up appointment.
