Red spots on the glans?
Hello, I engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse on April 7, and after ejaculation, I noticed blood in my urine.
Since then, I have experienced blood in my urine whenever I have an erection, even without sexual activity.
On April 9, I developed a fever and sore throat.
Due to the ongoing blood in my urine after erections, I visited a urologist on April 15.
After examination, the doctor diagnosed inflammation and prescribed medications: Danazol capsules (Danozole) and 200 mg of Ofloxacin (Oflocin).
On April 17, I began to feel itching on the glans, and upon using the restroom, I observed small red spots on the glans, with small white bumps resembling pearly penile papules near the corona (unsure if they were present before).
Here is a link to the photos of the symptoms: https://lurl.cc/AKb4A.
I would like to know if this could be related to a sexually transmitted infection, or if it is simply symptoms caused by prostatitis.
Thank you.

Hello: It is mostly necessary to continue observation, first treating the current symptoms, and follow up to confirm that urination has returned to normal.
The red spots may be a fungal infection, so it is important to maintain cleanliness and dryness, and to have a light diet.
Since some sexually transmitted infections have a window period, it is recommended to get tested in about three months.
Wishing you good health.

Based on the symptoms you've described, it is essential to consider a few potential causes for the red spots on the glans, as well as the associated symptoms of blood in urine, itching, and inflammation. Given the timeline of events following unprotected sexual intercourse, it is prudent to explore the possibility of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as well as other urological conditions.
1. Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): The presence of red spots on the glans, along with symptoms like blood in urine and itching, could indicate an STI. Common STIs that can cause similar symptoms include gonorrhea, chlamydia, and herpes. Gonorrhea and chlamydia can lead to urethritis, which may cause blood in urine and discomfort. Herpes can present with lesions or red spots on the genital area, often accompanied by itching or burning sensations.
2. Balanitis: This is an inflammation of the glans (the head of the penis) that can be caused by infections, irritants, or poor hygiene. Symptoms include redness, itching, and sometimes discharge. If the red spots are due to balanitis, it may not necessarily be sexually transmitted but could still require treatment.
3. Allergic Reactions or Irritation: Sometimes, irritation from soaps, lotions, or even latex from condoms can cause redness and itching. If you have recently changed any products used in the genital area, this could be a contributing factor.
4. Other Urological Conditions: Conditions such as prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) can also lead to symptoms like blood in urine and discomfort. However, prostatitis typically does not cause red spots on the glans.
Given the complexity of your symptoms, it is crucial to follow up with a healthcare provider, preferably a urologist or a specialist in infectious diseases. They may recommend further testing, including urine tests, swabs from the affected area, or blood tests to check for STIs. A thorough examination will help determine the exact cause of your symptoms.
In the meantime, here are some general recommendations:
- Avoid Sexual Activity: Until you have a definitive diagnosis, it is best to refrain from any sexual activity to prevent potential transmission of an infection.
- Maintain Hygiene: Keep the genital area clean and dry. Avoid using harsh soaps or products that could irritate the skin.
- Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of any changes in your symptoms, including the appearance of the red spots, any discharge, or changes in urination.
In conclusion, while your symptoms could be related to an STI, they could also stem from other causes such as balanitis or irritation. A healthcare provider's evaluation is essential for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Remember, early intervention can lead to better outcomes, so seeking medical advice promptly is crucial.
