It seems like the glans may be peeling?
A few days ago, I suddenly felt intense itching in my genital area, accompanied by a slight stinging sensation.
When I checked in the bathroom, I noticed that the glans and foreskin appeared wrinkled when not erect, but the wrinkles disappeared during an erection.
However, the texture felt rough and it was quite painful to the touch.
Could you please help me with this?

Hello, based on the symptoms you described, there are several possible causes.
The most likely scenario is a localized infection (bacterial or fungal).
If you notice red spots on the glans or a white membrane, it further indicates that the issue is likely due to an infection.
If the white membrane can be removed, please do so carefully, as it will greatly aid in treatment.
The treatment method involves applying a topical ointment.
Additionally, it is important to maintain proper local hygiene; avoid using soap temporarily to prevent worsening the symptoms.
If it is excessively dirty, you may use a small amount of body wash or a mild soap like Dove (which is smooth when used).
If itching occurs, after cleaning the area, applying some baby oil on the glans can be helpful.

More Info
When it comes to penile skin issues, particularly those involving the glans (the head of the penis), it's important to understand that various factors can contribute to symptoms such as itching, pain, and changes in skin texture. Based on your description, it sounds like you are experiencing discomfort that could be attributed to several potential causes.
Firstly, the symptoms you describe—itchiness, slight pain, and a wrinkled appearance of the glans—could be indicative of a few conditions. One common cause of such symptoms is a fungal infection, such as candidiasis (yeast infection), which can lead to itching and irritation. This is particularly common in warm, moist environments and can occur if there is an imbalance in the natural flora of the skin.
Another possibility is contact dermatitis, which can occur due to irritation from soaps, lotions, or even laundry detergents that come into contact with the genital area. If you've recently changed any products you use, this could be a factor. Additionally, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) could also present with similar symptoms, so it’s crucial to consider your sexual health history.
The fact that you notice the skin appears wrinkled when flaccid but smoothens out when erect could be related to the natural elasticity of the skin. However, if the skin feels rough and painful to the touch, this could indicate a more serious issue, such as inflammation or a dermatological condition like balanitis, which is inflammation of the glans.
Given the sensitivity of the area and the potential for various underlying causes, it is highly advisable to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination and may recommend tests to determine the exact cause of your symptoms. They might also prescribe topical treatments, antifungal medications, or other therapies depending on the diagnosis.
In the meantime, here are some general recommendations to help alleviate discomfort:
1. Maintain Hygiene: Keep the area clean and dry. Use mild, unscented soap and avoid harsh chemicals or fragrances that could irritate the skin.
2. Avoid Irritants: If you suspect that a product may be causing irritation, discontinue its use. This includes soaps, lotions, and even certain types of clothing that may cause friction.
3. Moisturize: If the skin appears dry, consider using a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer specifically designed for sensitive skin. This can help alleviate dryness and irritation.
4. Wear Loose Clothing: Opt for breathable, loose-fitting underwear and clothing to reduce friction and allow the area to stay dry.
5. Avoid Sexual Activity: Until you have a clearer understanding of the cause of your symptoms, it may be wise to avoid sexual activity to prevent further irritation or potential transmission of an infection.
In conclusion, while it’s understandable to feel concerned about these symptoms, the best course of action is to consult a healthcare professional who can provide a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Early intervention can help prevent complications and ensure that any underlying issues are addressed promptly.
