What is wrong with me?
Hello Doctor, since mid-April of last year, I have been feeling a warmth in my nasal cavity, similar to the discomfort experienced at the onset of a cold.
At the same time, I also feel dizzy and unable to concentrate, and my stools are always loose, giving me a feeling of incomplete evacuation, regardless of how many fruits and vegetables I consume.
This led me to a series of hospital visits, during which I consulted family medicine, neurology, otolaryngology, and traditional Chinese medicine.
Although I have become somewhat accustomed to this sensation, I am still searching for answers (sometimes it is really uncomfortable).
It has been almost a year, and due to the persistent discomfort, I find myself lacking patience with my children, which has affected my ability to educate them.
Sometimes I think it might be better to wait until I actually become seriously ill to find out the cause (like cancer or a sudden illness).
I kindly ask for your guidance on which specialty or hospital I should consult.
Note: I exercise regularly, have a good appetite, and my sleep is normal.
Thank you.

1.
It is recommended to first consult an otolaryngologist to determine whether the issue is non-allergic rhinitis or rhinosinusitis, and then have a gastroenterologist diagnose whether it is a gastrointestinal disorder.
2.
If neither of the above issues is present, it is advised to seek treatment from the Traditional Chinese Medicine department at our hospital.

More Info
It sounds like you have been experiencing a range of persistent and distressing symptoms for quite some time, which can understandably lead to feelings of frustration and anxiety. The symptoms you describe, including nasal discomfort, dizziness, and gastrointestinal issues, can significantly impact your daily life and emotional well-being. It’s commendable that you have sought medical attention from various specialists, including family medicine, neurology, ENT, and traditional Chinese medicine. However, it seems that you are still searching for answers and relief.
First, it’s important to acknowledge that ongoing health issues can lead to a cycle of worry and stress, which may exacerbate your symptoms. This is often referred to as "health anxiety" or "hypochondria," where individuals become overly focused on their health, leading to increased anxiety and sometimes even physical symptoms. It’s crucial to address both the physical and psychological aspects of your health.
Given that you have already consulted multiple specialists without a definitive diagnosis, it may be beneficial to consider a few additional steps:
1. Comprehensive Evaluation: If you haven’t already, consider seeking a comprehensive evaluation from a specialist in internal medicine or a functional medicine practitioner. They can provide a holistic approach to your symptoms, looking at potential underlying issues that may not have been addressed in previous consultations.
2. Mental Health Support: Since your symptoms are affecting your patience and ability to engage with your children, it may be helpful to speak with a mental health professional. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) can be particularly effective for managing health anxiety and can help you develop coping strategies for dealing with your symptoms and the stress they cause.
3. Lifestyle Factors: While you mentioned that you exercise regularly and have a normal sleep pattern, consider evaluating other lifestyle factors that may contribute to your symptoms. Stress management techniques, such as mindfulness meditation, yoga, or deep-breathing exercises, can help reduce anxiety and improve your overall well-being.
4. Nutrition and Gut Health: Since you are experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms, it may be worth consulting a gastroenterologist who specializes in functional gastrointestinal disorders. They can assess your diet and digestive health more closely, as gut health can significantly impact overall health and mood.
5. Follow-Up with Specialists: If you feel that your symptoms are not improving, don’t hesitate to return to your healthcare providers for follow-up appointments. Sometimes, it takes multiple visits and discussions to uncover the root cause of persistent symptoms. Be open about your ongoing discomfort and the impact it has on your life.
6. Support Groups: Connecting with others who experience similar health concerns can provide emotional support and practical advice. Consider joining a support group, either in-person or online, where you can share your experiences and learn from others.
Lastly, it’s essential to remember that you are not alone in this journey. Many people experience similar health concerns and anxieties, and seeking help is a positive step toward finding relief. If you ever feel overwhelmed or in crisis, please reach out to a mental health professional or a trusted individual in your life. Your health and well-being are paramount, and there are resources available to help you navigate this challenging time.
