I don't want to gain any more weight!

Hello Doctor: Over the past year, I have suddenly gained more than ten kilograms, but my diet hasn't changed significantly, and my exercise level is about the same.
Additionally, I've noticed a lot of acne on my face, which makes me suspect that there might be an issue with my endocrine system.
I really want to lose weight quickly, but I'm afraid that exercising with my current weight might lead to injuries.
When I visited the doctor, they only advised me to eat less and exercise more, which leaves me feeling helpless.
I'm also considering trying medication; I've been recommended to take medications like Rimonabant or Orlistat, but I'm unsure of their effectiveness and worried about potential side effects.
The sudden changes in my body are really hard for me to accept.
Please help me; what should I do? Thank you.

Hello, thank you for reaching out with your concerns about sudden weight gain and the accompanying physical changes. It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed when faced with unexpected changes in your body, especially when you feel like you’re doing everything right in terms of diet and exercise. Let’s break down your situation and explore some potential steps you can take.

First and foremost, sudden weight gain can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal changes, fluid retention, stress, or even underlying medical conditions. Given that you mentioned the appearance of "violations" on your face, which could refer to acne or other skin issues, it’s possible that hormonal fluctuations are at play. Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid disorders can lead to weight gain and skin changes. Therefore, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional who can perform a thorough evaluation, including blood tests to check hormone levels and other relevant markers.

Regarding your concern about exercise and potential injuries, it’s important to approach physical activity with caution, especially if you’re experiencing discomfort or if your body feels different than usual. Low-impact exercises such as walking, swimming, or cycling can be beneficial and are less likely to cause injury compared to high-impact activities. Additionally, incorporating strength training can help build muscle, which in turn can boost your metabolism and aid in weight management. However, it’s essential to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard, especially if you’re feeling unwell.

You mentioned considering weight loss supplements like 若美婷 (Rochelle) or 羅氏鮮 (Roche Fresh). While some people may find success with weight loss medications, it’s crucial to approach these options with caution. Many weight loss pills can have side effects and may not address the underlying issues contributing to your weight gain. It’s advisable to discuss any potential medications with a healthcare provider who can guide you based on your individual health needs and circumstances.

In terms of dietary changes, focusing on a balanced diet rich in whole foods—such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains—can help support your weight loss efforts. It’s also important to stay hydrated and manage stress, as both can impact weight. Mindful eating practices, such as paying attention to hunger cues and avoiding emotional eating, can also be beneficial.

Lastly, consider seeking support from a registered dietitian or a nutritionist who can provide personalized guidance tailored to your specific needs. They can help you develop a sustainable eating plan and offer strategies to cope with emotional or stress-related eating.

In summary, while sudden weight gain can be distressing, it’s important to approach the situation holistically. Consult with a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying medical conditions, engage in safe and effective physical activity, be cautious with weight loss supplements, and focus on a balanced diet. Remember, you’re not alone in this journey, and seeking support can make a significant difference. Take care of yourself, and don’t hesitate to reach out for help when needed.
