Enlarged labia majora?

I am a 22-year-old girl with no sexual experience and I have never masturbated.
I have had acne on my face since I was 14 years old, and it has never improved significantly.
The hair on my limbs is thick and quite long.
I have noticed that my left labium majus is much larger than the right one, with an additional hanging part in the middle that is about one centimeter long, slightly smaller than a one-dollar coin.
Both the inner and outer parts are dark in color.
Could you please explain the possible reasons for this? Is it related to hormone secretion? Do I need to undergo any examinations? I seem to recall reading an article that mentioned all of my symptoms could be related to hormone secretion or something similar, but I can't remember the details.
Therefore, I am seeking your advice to proceed with any necessary medical care.
Thank you.

Hello: 1.
Acne and excessive body hair are manifestations of ovarian dysfunction and excessive secretion of androgens.
2.
Foreign bodies in the labia need to be examined before providing an answer.
3.
Please promptly visit a gynecology clinic, such as the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hsinchu Hospital.

As a 22-year-old woman experiencing asymmetrical labia, it is understandable to have concerns regarding hormonal influences and potential health implications. The asymmetry you describe, where the left labium majus is significantly larger than the right, can be attributed to several factors, including hormonal influences, genetic predispositions, and anatomical variations that are common among women.

Hormones play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of the reproductive system, including the external genitalia. During puberty, the body undergoes significant hormonal changes, primarily driven by estrogen and progesterone. These hormones can influence the growth and development of the labia. It is not uncommon for women to have some degree of asymmetry in their labia, as the body is not perfectly symmetrical. However, pronounced differences, such as the one you describe, can sometimes be linked to hormonal imbalances or conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which can lead to increased hair growth (hirsutism) and acne, both of which you mentioned experiencing.

The darker coloration of the labia can also be attributed to hormonal influences, as increased melanin production can occur in response to hormonal changes. This is often seen during puberty, pregnancy, or as a result of certain hormonal therapies.
While asymmetrical labia are often benign and do not require treatment, it is essential to monitor any changes in size, shape, or color, as these could indicate underlying health issues. If you are experiencing discomfort, pain, or any other concerning symptoms, it would be prudent to consult a healthcare provider. They may recommend a physical examination and possibly hormonal testing to assess your hormone levels and rule out any conditions that could be contributing to your symptoms.

In terms of necessary examinations, a gynecological evaluation would be beneficial. This could include a pelvic exam to assess the anatomy and any potential abnormalities. Blood tests may also be conducted to evaluate hormone levels, particularly if there are concerns about conditions like PCOS or other endocrine disorders.

In conclusion, while asymmetrical labia can be a normal anatomical variation, your symptoms warrant further investigation to ensure there are no underlying hormonal imbalances or health concerns. Consulting with a healthcare professional who specializes in gynecology or endocrinology can provide you with the guidance and reassurance you need. Remember, your health and comfort are paramount, and seeking medical advice is a proactive step towards understanding your body better.
