What is the normal state of the glans penis?
Hello, may I ask: during intercourse, isn't the glans supposed to be inserted into the vagina? My foreskin can retract just below the glans, but if the glans goes in, what happens to the foreskin? Isn't there a frenulum connecting it? Wouldn't that get stuck? Could you please clarify my confusion? Thank you!

Hello: During intercourse, the glans and the entire penis should be inserted into the vagina, ideally reaching the base of the penis.
Your position may be somewhat incorrect; please refer to relevant literature for further study.
Thank you!

Understanding the anatomy of the glans penis and the concerns that may arise during intercourse is important for both sexual health and comfort. The glans penis, or the head of the penis, is a sensitive area that plays a crucial role in sexual arousal and pleasure. The foreskin, or prepuce, is a fold of skin that covers the glans in uncircumcised males. During sexual intercourse, the dynamics between the glans, foreskin, and the vaginal canal can raise questions and concerns, particularly regarding movement and potential discomfort.
When engaging in intercourse, the glans is indeed inserted into the vagina. For individuals with an intact foreskin, the foreskin can retract naturally during erection and penetration. If your foreskin retracts to just below the glans, this is generally normal. The foreskin is designed to move with the penis, and during sexual arousal, it typically retracts to expose the glans. This retraction allows for a more pleasurable experience for both partners.
Your concern about the foreskin potentially getting "stuck" or "caught" during intercourse is understandable. The frenulum, or the band of tissue on the underside of the penis that connects the foreskin to the glans, does provide some limitation to how far the foreskin can retract. However, in most cases, the foreskin will move freely during sexual activity. If the foreskin is not overly tight (a condition known as phimosis), it should not cause any issues during penetration.
If you experience pain or discomfort during intercourse, or if you feel that the foreskin is too tight and restricts movement, it may be beneficial to consult a healthcare provider. They can assess whether you have any conditions such as phimosis or frenulum breve (a short frenulum) that might require treatment.
In terms of sexual health, it is also important to practice safe sex to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Using condoms can help protect both partners and can also provide additional lubrication, which may enhance comfort during intercourse.
If you have further concerns about your anatomy or sexual health, consider discussing them with a healthcare professional who specializes in urology or sexual health. They can provide personalized advice and reassurance based on your specific situation.
In summary, during intercourse, the glans penis is intended to enter the vagina, and the foreskin should naturally retract. If you have concerns about tightness or discomfort, it is advisable to seek medical advice. Understanding your body and having open communication with your partner can also enhance your sexual experience and alleviate worries.
