Penile base
Hello Doctor, I apologize for my lack of understanding regarding this issue.
Although I have browsed through previous articles related to it, I am still unclear.
I have noticed a bump at the base of my penis that resembles an acne lesion, but it is black rather than white, and it does not look like a pearly penile papule.
I squeezed it today, but nothing came out except for some bleeding; there was no discharge.
I am very concerned about what this could be, especially since it did not hurt when I squeezed it, and I only discovered it today after engaging in masturbation yesterday without noticing it.
I only had one bump, which I just squeezed off, and now I am applying a topical treatment, but I have noticed some stinging.
I hope this information can help the doctor provide me with a better understanding of what this might be.
Thank you.

Asen: Hello, the black lesion at the base of your penis, which bleeds when punctured, seems to be vascular in nature.
It is most likely a small hemangioma, which is an enlargement and dilation of blood vessels.
There is a possibility of recurrence; if it does recur, you can apply pressure with your finger and then release it to see if it disappears—if it slowly reappears, it is likely a hemangioma.
This is a response from Dr.
Hsu Wei-Kai, Director of the Urology Department at Taitung Hospital, Department of Health, Executive Yuan, who is concerned about your condition.

When it comes to black bumps at the base of the penis, there are several potential causes that one should consider. The appearance of a black bump, especially if it resembles an acne lesion, can be concerning. However, it is important to approach this situation with a clear understanding of possible conditions and their implications.
Firstly, one common cause of black bumps in this area could be a condition known as "Pearly Penile Papules." These are small, benign growths that are typically white or flesh-colored but can sometimes appear darker. They are completely harmless and are a normal anatomical variation. However, since you described the bump as black and similar to an acne lesion, it may not fit this description.
Another possibility is a sebaceous cyst, which can occur when a sebaceous gland becomes blocked. These cysts can sometimes appear dark if they are inflamed or if the contents have become oxidized. They are usually painless and can be treated if they become bothersome.
Additionally, the presence of a black bump could indicate a more serious condition, such as a dermatological issue or even a sexually transmitted infection (STI). For instance, a dark lesion could be a sign of a wart caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) or other viral infections. While these conditions are often painless, they can lead to complications if left untreated.
It is also worth noting that if you attempted to squeeze the bump and experienced bleeding without any discharge, this could suggest that the bump was inflamed or irritated. The bleeding could be a result of trauma to the skin, which may lead to further irritation or infection if not properly cared for.
Given your description, it is crucial to monitor the area for any changes. If the bump reappears, changes in color, size, or shape, or if you develop additional symptoms such as pain, itching, or discharge, it is advisable to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination and may recommend further testing, such as a biopsy, to rule out any serious conditions.
In terms of treatment, if the bump is determined to be benign, no treatment may be necessary. However, if it is bothersome or if there is a risk of infection, a healthcare provider may suggest options such as topical treatments or minor surgical procedures to remove the lesion.
In summary, while there are several benign explanations for a black bump at the base of the penis, it is essential to approach this issue with caution. Given the potential for various underlying conditions, seeking a professional evaluation is the best course of action to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment. Remember, your health and peace of mind are paramount, and addressing concerns with a qualified healthcare provider is always recommended.
