Persistent Issues After Circumcision: Seeking Solutions for Penile Curvature - Urology

Share to:

The condition has not improved?

Previously, due to a severe adhesion issue with the penis, there was a curvature (in a V-shape) during erection, making it impossible to extend.
I have now undergone a circumcision; however, the lower half of the glans is still adhered to the remaining foreskin, so the shape of the penis during erection has not improved.
The only difference is that there is no longer pain during erection as there was before.
I would like to know if I need to undergo another circumcision, and whether excessive removal of the foreskin could lead to a shortening of the penis during erection.
This is really concerning me.

Basically, the surgery should alleviate many of your concerns, and it will not cause any issues related to being too short.
If you have any worries, please consult the surgeon who will be performing the procedure.

It sounds like you are experiencing significant discomfort and concern following your circumcision, particularly regarding the curvature of your penis during erection. This is a common issue that can arise from adhesions or scarring after circumcision, especially if there was a history of significant adhesions prior to the procedure.

First, it’s important to understand that penile curvature can result from several factors, including congenital conditions, trauma, or scarring from previous surgeries. In your case, it seems that the curvature is related to the adhesions that were not fully resolved with the initial circumcision. The fact that you are no longer experiencing pain during erections is a positive sign, but the persistent curvature can be distressing.

If the lower part of your glans (the head of the penis) is still adhering to the remaining foreskin, this could indeed be contributing to the curvature you are experiencing. In many cases, a second surgical intervention may be necessary to fully release these adhesions and correct the curvature. This could involve a minor surgical procedure to carefully detach any remaining adhesions without compromising the surrounding tissue.

Regarding your concern about excessive removal of foreskin leading to a shorter penis during erection, it is a common worry among patients. However, if the circumcision was performed correctly, it should not significantly affect the length of the penis. The perception of a shorter penis can sometimes occur due to the way the skin retracts after circumcision, but this is typically a temporary adjustment as the body heals.

It is crucial to consult with a urologist or a surgeon who specializes in male genital surgeries. They can evaluate your specific situation through a physical examination and possibly imaging studies to assess the degree of curvature and any remaining adhesions. They will also be able to discuss the potential risks and benefits of a revision surgery, including the likelihood of improving the curvature and any implications for penile length.

In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to manage your concerns:
1. Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of any changes in curvature, pain, or discomfort. This information will be helpful for your doctor.

2. Avoid Irritation: Be gentle with the area during healing. Avoid activities that could cause friction or irritation.

3. Follow-Up Care: Attend all follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider to ensure proper healing and to address any concerns as they arise.

4. Discuss Options: If surgery is recommended, discuss all your options thoroughly with your doctor, including the potential for non-surgical interventions if applicable.

5. Emotional Support: It’s normal to feel anxious or frustrated about these changes. Consider speaking with a mental health professional if you find that these feelings are overwhelming.

In conclusion, while it is understandable to be concerned about the curvature and the implications of your circumcision, there are solutions available. A thorough evaluation by a specialist will provide you with the best course of action to address your concerns and improve your quality of life.
