Many issues?
Hello, I have the following questions:
(1) I get enough sleep, but I experience soreness around my eye sockets and above my eyes, extending to my head and neck, making it difficult to watch TV or read newspapers.
The ophthalmologist at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital said there was no issue, while the doctor at Hsinchu Hospital suggested I have severe dry eye syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis.
What should I do?
(2) During an examination at Baichuan Hospital in Lukang, Changhua, I was found to have six or seven tumors approximately 1 cm in diameter.
A fine needle aspiration at Changhua Christian Hospital revealed they are benign tumors.
In this situation, should I leave them alone, or is there a method to improve the situation? Is there a need for surgical removal, and if so, what type of surgery would be the safest and have the least side effects given the advancements in medical technology? I am 52 years old, female, and have gained about 12 kg in the past two years.
Is this related?
(3) Four years ago, I fell while carrying a child and landed on my knee, causing pain.
After feeling uncomfortable that day, I ignored it.
One day, while painting, I jumped down from a chair and my right leg became completely unable to bear weight and was painful.
I subsequently underwent arthroscopic surgery and lavage, but I still cannot fully recover.
If I walk or stand for too long, I experience soreness and cannot lift heavy objects or exercise, leading to a weight gain of 12 kg over two years.
I can only sit at home all day, which is very distressing.
I am currently 52 years old.
Should I consider another surgery or are there rehabilitation methods available? I hope to find an effective way to fully recover.
Thank you very much, and I hope you can take the time to reply with some suggestions.
Thank you again.

I would like to remind you of a possible cause, "cervical spondylosis." Additionally, "trigeminal neuralgia" (which is associated with the fifth cranial nerve) is also a potential consideration.
I recommend that you consult with specialists in neurology, orthopedics, and rehabilitation medicine for a thorough evaluation and treatment.
If a diagnosis of a benign tumor is confirmed, it is advisable to take proactive follow-up measures, including monitoring the size and number of tumors, as well as blood leukocyte counts.
Furthermore, in addition to blood-related issues, a follow-up chest X-ray should also be considered.
Supplementing with female hormones has positive benefits, although it may lead to fluid retention, increased appetite, or increased organ mass; however, it typically does not result in obesity.
Considering the condition of your lower limbs, it is possible that you are experiencing degenerative arthritis in both knee joints, and due to concerns about osteoporosis, I suggest you purchase the latest treatments available in Europe and the U.S.: GLUCOSAMINE 1500 mg/day and CHONDROITIN SULFATE 1200 mg/day.

More Info
Hello! Thank you for reaching out with your health concerns. I understand that you are dealing with multiple issues, including eye pain, benign tumors, and knee pain following an injury. Let’s address each of your questions systematically.
1. Eye Pain and Dry Eye Syndrome
You mentioned experiencing pain around your eyes, forehead, and neck, which has made it difficult to engage in activities like watching TV or reading. The diagnoses of severe dry eye syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis could indeed contribute to these symptoms. Dry eye syndrome can cause discomfort, a gritty sensation, and even headaches due to eye strain.
To manage dry eyes, consider the following strategies:
- Artificial Tears: Over-the-counter lubricating eye drops can provide relief. Look for preservative-free options if you need to use them frequently.
- Warm Compresses: Applying a warm compress to your eyes can help stimulate tear production and relieve discomfort.
- Environmental Adjustments: Use a humidifier in your home, especially in dry conditions, and take breaks from screens to reduce eye strain.
- Consult a Specialist: If your symptoms persist, you may want to see an ophthalmologist specializing in dry eye disease for more targeted treatments, such as prescription eye drops or punctal plugs to retain moisture.
2. Benign Tumors
You mentioned having several benign tumors, approximately 1 cm in diameter, which were confirmed through biopsy. Generally, benign tumors do not require immediate intervention unless they cause discomfort or other complications. However, monitoring is essential. Here are some considerations:
- Regular Monitoring: Schedule follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider to monitor the tumors for any changes in size or symptoms.
- Surgical Options: If the tumors become bothersome or if there is uncertainty about their nature, surgical removal may be considered. The type of surgery will depend on the tumor's location and characteristics. Minimally invasive techniques are often preferred for their reduced recovery time and lower risk of complications.
- Weight Gain and Hormonal Therapy: The weight gain and hormone supplementation you mentioned could potentially influence your overall health and may need to be discussed with your healthcare provider, especially if you are considering surgery.
3. Knee Pain and Rehabilitation
Your knee pain following a fall and subsequent arthroscopic surgery indicates that you may be dealing with ongoing issues related to joint health. Here are some steps you can take:
- Physical Therapy: Engaging in a structured rehabilitation program with a physical therapist can help strengthen the muscles around your knee, improve flexibility, and reduce pain. They can tailor exercises to your specific needs and limitations.
- Weight Management: Since you mentioned gaining weight, maintaining a healthy weight can significantly reduce stress on your knees. Consider consulting a nutritionist for personalized dietary advice.
- Pain Management: Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen), can help manage pain and inflammation. However, consult your doctor before starting any new medication.
- Further Surgical Options: If conservative treatments fail, you may need to discuss further surgical options with an orthopedic specialist. Procedures such as knee arthroplasty (joint replacement) may be considered if the joint is severely damaged.
Conclusion
In summary, addressing your health concerns requires a multi-faceted approach. For your eye issues, focus on managing dry eye symptoms and consider consulting a specialist. For the benign tumors, regular monitoring and discussing surgical options with your healthcare provider is advisable. Lastly, for your knee pain, engaging in physical therapy and managing your weight can significantly improve your quality of life.
I recommend keeping an open line of communication with your healthcare providers, as they can offer personalized advice based on your medical history and current health status. Wishing you the best in your journey toward better health!
