Irregular menstruation

I had a normal menstrual period on February 9th.
On March 15th, I experienced very light bleeding that lasted for about 15 days.
I consulted a gynecologist who prescribed medication, and my period stopped the next day.
I continued taking the medication prescribed by the doctor (which was intended to regulate my menstrual cycle) for three weeks, during which I also received an injection to help ensure my menstrual flow would be complete.
Today is April 20th, and my period still hasn't arrived.
Should I continue to wait? What could this situation indicate? I have previously given birth to a daughter who is now 1.9 years old, and I have been using contraception since then.

If pregnancy is ruled out, you may wait until the end of April.
Thank you!

Irregular menstrual periods can be a source of concern for many women, and understanding the potential causes and when to seek medical help is crucial for maintaining reproductive health. Based on your description, it seems you have experienced a significant disruption in your menstrual cycle, which can be attributed to various factors.

Firstly, it's important to recognize that menstrual cycles can be influenced by a range of physiological and psychological factors. Common causes of irregular periods include hormonal imbalances, stress, significant weight changes, excessive exercise, and underlying medical conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid disorders. Given that you have recently given birth and are managing your reproductive health with contraception, these factors could also play a role in your current situation.

From your timeline, it appears that your menstrual cycle was normal in February but became irregular in March, with a prolonged period that lasted about 15 days. After consulting with your gynecologist, you were prescribed medication to help regulate your cycle. However, despite treatment, you have not had a menstrual period since then, which is concerning.

The medication you received was likely intended to help restore hormonal balance and induce menstruation. If you have been taking the medication as prescribed and have not experienced any bleeding, it may indicate that your body is still adjusting to the hormonal changes or that there may be an underlying issue that needs further investigation.

In your case, since you have already consulted with a healthcare professional and received treatment, it is essential to follow up with your gynecologist. They may recommend additional tests, such as blood tests to check hormone levels, an ultrasound to assess the ovaries and uterus, or other diagnostic procedures to determine the cause of your irregular periods. It is also important to discuss any other symptoms you may be experiencing, such as weight changes, mood swings, or physical discomfort, as these can provide valuable information for your healthcare provider.

As for whether you should continue to wait for your period to return, it is generally advisable to monitor your symptoms closely. If you experience any unusual symptoms, such as severe pain, heavy bleeding, or signs of pregnancy, you should seek medical attention promptly. Additionally, if your period does not return within a reasonable timeframe or if you have concerns about your menstrual health, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for further evaluation.

In summary, irregular periods can result from various factors, and it is essential to work closely with your healthcare provider to identify the underlying cause and determine the appropriate course of action. Given your history and current situation, a follow-up appointment with your gynecologist is recommended to ensure that any potential issues are addressed and to help restore your menstrual cycle to a regular pattern. Your health and well-being are paramount, and seeking timely medical advice is the best approach to managing your reproductive health.
