excuse me?
Hello, my period has not arrived this month; it has been a month already! My last period was from July 11 to July 18.
I had intercourse with my boyfriend on July 20, July 25, August 11, and August 12, and we always used protection.
Occasionally, there was a little bleeding after intercourse.
My average menstrual cycle over the past three months has been 25 days, so I estimated that my period should have arrived by August 15.
I am very worried that I might be pregnant! Is that possible, or is it just a late period? Recently, I have noticed an increase in discharge, and sometimes it itches down there! I haven't taken a pregnancy test yet, so I'm quite anxious! Could you please help me with this? Thank you!

Hello: If your menstrual period is overdue, please come in for a pregnancy test.
If you experience bleeding after intercourse, you should come in for an examination to rule out the possibility of cervical lesions or other conditions.

When it comes to missed periods, many women understandably become concerned about the possibility of pregnancy. However, it is essential to consider various factors that can contribute to a delayed menstrual cycle. In your case, you mentioned that your last menstrual cycle ended on July 18, and you had unprotected intercourse on several occasions afterward. Given that your average cycle length is around 25 days, you would typically expect your period to arrive by mid-August. Since it is now a month later and you have not yet menstruated, it is natural to feel anxious about the situation.
First, let's address the possibility of pregnancy. While you mentioned using condoms during intercourse, it's important to note that no contraceptive method is 100% effective. If the condom was not used consistently or correctly, there is a chance of sperm exposure, which could lead to pregnancy. However, since you have not yet taken a pregnancy test, it would be prudent to do so. Home pregnancy tests are generally reliable when taken after a missed period, and they can provide you with a clearer answer regarding your pregnancy status.
In addition to the possibility of pregnancy, several other factors could explain your missed period. Stress is a significant contributor to menstrual irregularities. You mentioned that you have been experiencing increased vaginal discharge and occasional itching, which could indicate a yeast infection or other vaginal issues. Stress from life events, such as exams or personal challenges, can disrupt your hormonal balance, leading to delayed ovulation and, consequently, a missed period.
Moreover, lifestyle factors such as changes in weight, diet, exercise, and sleep can also impact your menstrual cycle. If you have experienced any significant changes in these areas recently, they could be contributing to your delayed period. Hormonal imbalances, such as those caused by conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), can also lead to irregular cycles.
Given your concerns about the possibility of pregnancy and the symptoms you are experiencing, I recommend taking a home pregnancy test as soon as possible. If the test is negative and your period does not arrive within the next week or so, it would be wise to consult a healthcare provider. They can perform a more thorough evaluation, including a blood test for pregnancy and an assessment of your menstrual health.
In summary, while a missed period can indeed indicate pregnancy, it is not the only explanation. Factors such as stress, hormonal imbalances, and lifestyle changes can also play a significant role. Taking a pregnancy test will provide you with clarity, and if necessary, seeking medical advice can help address any underlying issues affecting your menstrual cycle. Remember, it is essential to listen to your body and seek help when needed, as your reproductive health is a vital aspect of your overall well-being.
