Discomfort in the glans penis?

Recently, my dad asked me to try retracting my foreskin, or else he would take me to get circumcised.
So I really tried, and after a lot of effort, I managed to expose the glans, but when I put on underwear, it becomes very uncomfortable and painful.

1.
Doctor, I’m worried that this might affect my ability to use it in the future.
What should I do?
2.
My dad told me there’s no problem and that I should keep the glans exposed for cleanliness.
Is there something wrong with me, or is there something wrong with my dad? He says he doesn’t feel pain when his glans touches his underwear.
Why is that?

High school student: Hello, your situation is due to the glans being difficult to expose, which has been protected by the foreskin for a long time.
Therefore, when it occasionally becomes exposed and comes into contact with clothing, it can feel very painful.
Note: If you undergo a circumcision, you may also experience this phenomenon.
The pain will likely improve after some time as you get used to it.
If the glans can be easily retracted for cleaning and there is no indication of phimosis, surgery should not be necessary.
As long as you can maintain proper hygiene, surgery is generally not required.
This perspective differs from the past emphasis on surgical intervention.
In recent years, the medical community has stressed the importance of preserving the foreskin unless there are conditions such as phimosis or chronic inflammation that necessitate surgery.

Understanding discomfort in the glans, particularly in the context of phimosis or tight foreskin, can be a source of concern for many individuals. It’s important to address both the physical discomfort and the psychological aspects that come with it.
Firstly, it’s essential to understand that the glans (the head of the penis) is typically covered by the foreskin in uncircumcised males. When the foreskin is retracted, especially if it hasn’t been done regularly, it can lead to discomfort or pain due to sensitivity. This sensitivity is normal, as the glans is usually protected and may not be accustomed to direct contact with clothing or other surfaces.
1. Concerns about Future Functionality: Your concern about whether you will be able to use your glans comfortably in the future is valid. Discomfort can arise from several factors, including tight foreskin (phimosis), lack of lubrication, or even friction from clothing. If you are experiencing pain when wearing underwear, it may be beneficial to gradually acclimate your glans to exposure. This can be done by spending short periods with the foreskin retracted and gradually increasing the duration as comfort allows.
If discomfort persists, it might be wise to consult a healthcare professional. They can assess whether there is an underlying issue, such as phimosis or other conditions that may require treatment. In some cases, topical treatments or stretching exercises may be recommended to alleviate tightness.
2. Understanding Different Experiences: Your father’s experience may differ from yours due to a variety of factors, including anatomical differences, personal hygiene practices, and individual sensitivity levels. It’s not uncommon for men to have different levels of sensitivity or comfort when it comes to their genitalia. Some men may find that exposure to the glans is comfortable and even preferable, while others may experience discomfort.
It’s also worth noting that cultural and familial attitudes towards circumcision and foreskin management can vary widely. Your father may have grown up with different norms or practices regarding genital care, which could influence his perspective on the matter.
In terms of hygiene, it is generally true that keeping the glans clean is important. However, this does not necessarily mean that the foreskin must be retracted at all times. Regular washing with mild soap and water can help maintain cleanliness without causing discomfort.
If you continue to experience pain or discomfort, or if you have concerns about your ability to retract your foreskin, it’s advisable to seek medical advice. A urologist can provide guidance tailored to your specific situation, including potential treatments or interventions if necessary.
In summary, discomfort in the glans can be a common issue, particularly for those who are not accustomed to exposure. Gradual acclimatization, proper hygiene, and consultation with a healthcare provider can help address these concerns. Open communication with your father about your experiences and feelings may also help bridge the gap in understanding between your perspectives.
