Regarding the cost of blood tests in hospital health check-ups?
Hello, doctor! Recently, I have noticed a few round lumps (about 2 to 3) on the side of my neck and near my Adam's apple.
They feel movable and are not painful.
There is also a small round lump on my right shoulder and back that moves as well, but it doesn't hurt.
Additionally, I have a slightly swollen lymph node under my right ear, which I discovered around middle school.
There is another lump in my right armpit that seems to be more like a bony structure (it doesn't move, just protrudes).
I also have a swollen lymph node on the right side of my jaw that is movable, which I noticed during the summer before middle school.
Most of these swollen issues are on the right side.
I would like to ask the doctor how much it would cost for me to get checked at a major hospital at my age? How much for a full body check-up? How much for blood tests? Sorry to bother you! Bye~~

A full-body health check-up costs approximately six thousand to twelve thousand NTD out-of-pocket.
Blood tests range from about four hundred fifty to eight hundred NTD.

Hello! Thank you for your question regarding the costs associated with comprehensive health checkups and blood tests, particularly in relation to tumor concerns.
When it comes to health checkups, especially for someone experiencing symptoms like lymph node swelling or unusual lumps, it’s essential to understand the potential costs involved. In the United States, the price of a comprehensive health checkup can vary widely based on several factors, including the location, the specific tests included, and whether you have health insurance.
1. Comprehensive Health Checkup Costs:
- A standard comprehensive health checkup can range from $100 to $300 or more. This usually includes a physical examination, basic blood tests (like a complete blood count and metabolic panel), and possibly some additional screenings based on your age and risk factors.
- If you are experiencing specific symptoms, such as the lumps you mentioned, your doctor may recommend additional tests, which could increase the overall cost. For example, imaging tests like ultrasounds or CT scans can add anywhere from $200 to $3,000 depending on the type and location of the scan.
2. Blood Tests for Tumor Concerns:
- Blood tests specifically aimed at detecting tumor markers can also vary in cost. Common tumor marker tests, such as those for prostate-specific antigen (PSA) or cancer antigen 125 (CA-125), typically range from $50 to $200 each. However, if your doctor suspects a malignancy, they may order a panel of tests, which could increase costs significantly.
- Additionally, if you require more specialized tests, such as genetic testing or advanced imaging, these can be considerably more expensive, sometimes exceeding $1,000.
3. Insurance Considerations:
- If you have health insurance, many of these costs may be partially covered, especially if the tests are deemed medically necessary. It’s crucial to check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage and any out-of-pocket expenses you might incur.
- For those without insurance, many hospitals and clinics offer payment plans or sliding scale fees based on income, which can help make these necessary tests more affordable.
4. What to Expect During the Checkup:
- During your visit, the doctor will likely perform a physical examination and take a detailed medical history. They may also order blood tests to check for signs of infection, inflammation, or other abnormalities.
- Given your symptoms, the doctor may recommend imaging studies (like an ultrasound or CT scan) to further investigate the lumps and assess whether they are benign or require further evaluation.
5. Next Steps:
- If you are concerned about the lumps and their potential implications, it is advisable to seek medical attention promptly. Early detection and diagnosis are crucial in managing any health issues effectively.
- Discuss your symptoms openly with your healthcare provider, and don’t hesitate to ask about the necessity and costs of any recommended tests.
In conclusion, while the costs of comprehensive health checkups and blood tests can vary significantly, it’s essential to prioritize your health and seek the necessary evaluations. If you have any further questions or need assistance in navigating the healthcare system, feel free to ask. Take care!
