Increasing number of warts..?
Hello, a long time ago I had a wart on my hand.
At that time, I didn't realize it was a contagious virus and thought it was just a common growth, so I ignored it.
Recently, I discovered that I have many more warts on my limbs, and after visiting a dermatologist, I learned that they are indeed warts.
I have undergone cryotherapy twice (there are many warts), but later I found that there are still many in other areas, including my abdomen and chest.
This situation worries me because there are so many warts that if I were to treat them all with cryotherapy, it would be quite distressing (I am unsure if cryotherapy will leave scars), and most of the warts are quite small.
The clinic doctor even mentioned that he couldn't find some of them, yet I was able to.
Due to the large number, he suggested that I wait until the warts grow larger before addressing them.
But doesn't this mean the virus will continue to spread in my body? This has made me very frustrated, and I am hesitant to use body lotion and other products.
Doctor, may I ask:
1.
Will eating more fruits and drinking more water enhance my immune system to help the warts disappear?
2.
If the warts won't disappear on their own, do I really need to find all the warts on my body and treat them all at once?
3.
Can I still use skincare products and body lotion? (I consulted another doctor who told me it’s okay to use them since showering can also lead to transmission, so it doesn't make a difference...)
Thank you for your help.

More Info
Warts, medically known as verrucae, are benign epithelial tumors caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear on various parts of the body, including the hands, feet, and other areas, and are often characterized by their rough texture and raised appearance. Understanding warts, their treatment options, and strategies to support your immune system can help manage this condition effectively.
Treatment Options for Warts
1. Cryotherapy: This is the method you have already undergone, where liquid nitrogen is applied to freeze the wart. While effective, it may require multiple sessions, especially for numerous warts. Cryotherapy can sometimes leave scars, but this varies from person to person.
2. Topical Treatments: Over-the-counter treatments containing salicylic acid can help peel away the wart gradually. These treatments require consistent application and can take several weeks to show results.
3. Laser Therapy: For extensive or stubborn warts, laser therapy can be an option. This method uses focused light to destroy the wart tissue. It may be more costly and is usually considered when other treatments have failed.
4. Electrosurgery: This involves burning the wart with an electric current. It is effective but may also leave scars.
5. Immunotherapy: This treatment aims to boost your immune response against the virus. It can involve topical agents that stimulate the immune system or injections that help your body recognize and fight the virus.
6. Surgical Removal: In some cases, warts can be surgically excised, especially if they are large or resistant to other treatments.
Immune Support Strategies
1. Nutrition: A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can support your immune system. Foods high in vitamins A, C, E, and zinc are particularly beneficial for skin health and immune function.
2. Hydration: Drinking plenty of water helps maintain skin health and overall bodily functions. While hydration alone won't eliminate warts, it supports your immune system.
3. Stress Management: Chronic stress can weaken your immune response. Techniques such as mindfulness, yoga, and regular exercise can help manage stress levels.
4. Sleep: Adequate sleep is crucial for a well-functioning immune system. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.
5. Avoiding Irritants: If you have warts, be cautious with skin products. While some doctors may advise that you can use moisturizers, it's best to avoid products that could irritate the warts or surrounding skin until they are treated.
Addressing Your Concerns
1. Will eating fruits and drinking water help warts disappear?: While a healthy diet and hydration can support your immune system, they are unlikely to directly cause warts to disappear. Warts are caused by a viral infection, and while a strong immune system can help fight off infections, it may not eliminate existing warts.
2. Should you find and treat all warts at once?: It’s understandable to want to address all warts, but treating them all at once can be overwhelming and painful. It might be more manageable to treat them in stages, especially if they are small. Consult your dermatologist for a personalized treatment plan.
3. Can you use skincare products?: Generally, using moisturizers and body lotions is fine, but avoid applying them directly on the warts. Keeping the skin hydrated can help overall skin health, but be cautious not to irritate the warts.
Conclusion
Warts can be bothersome, especially when they multiply. While treatments like cryotherapy are effective, they may not be suitable for everyone, especially with numerous warts. It's essential to consult with a dermatologist who can provide a tailored approach based on the number and location of your warts. Additionally, supporting your immune system through a healthy lifestyle can be beneficial in managing warts and preventing future outbreaks. Always discuss any concerns or symptoms with your healthcare provider to ensure you receive the best care possible.
