Penile correction surgery issues?

I am the one who asked about the penile curvature correction surgery yesterday and later went for a tattoo.
The needle used for the tattoo was new, so there shouldn't be any bacteria, right? How can I determine if my penis is okay? Will I know after the tattoo wound has healed? Also, after the surgery, my penis is still slightly swollen; will that go down with time? Thank you for your help!

Hello, when a wound is inflamed or infected, there are typically some signs: redness, swelling, heat, and pain.
Of course, in severe cases, there may be pus formation.
If these symptoms are not present, it should be fine.
After surgery on a bent limb, swelling can persist for a long time; I recommend applying local heat to increase blood circulation.
Note: If the condition worsens or if there is increased pain after applying heat, do not continue with heat therapy.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again for further discussion and research.

Sincerely,
Director of Urology,

Penile curvature surgery, often performed to correct conditions such as Peyronie's disease or congenital penile curvature, can be a significant procedure for many men. Understanding the recovery process and addressing safety concerns is crucial for optimal healing and peace of mind.

Recovery Process
After undergoing penile curvature surgery, patients typically experience a range of symptoms, including swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the surgical area. Swelling is a common post-operative response and can take several weeks to subside. It is important to follow your surgeon's post-operative care instructions closely, which may include:
1. Rest and Avoiding Strain: It is essential to avoid any strenuous activities, including sexual intercourse, for a specified period, usually around 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your surgeon's advice. This allows the surgical site to heal properly.

2. Pain Management: Mild to moderate pain can be expected after surgery. Your doctor may prescribe pain relief medications or recommend over-the-counter options. Always consult your healthcare provider before taking any medication.

3. Hygiene and Care: Keeping the surgical area clean is vital to prevent infection. Follow your surgeon's instructions regarding bathing and cleaning the area. Avoid soaking in baths or swimming until cleared by your doctor.

4. Monitoring for Complications: Watch for signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, warmth, or discharge from the surgical site. If you experience severe pain, fever, or any unusual symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Safety Concerns
Regarding your concerns about getting a tattoo shortly after surgery, it is essential to consider the following:
- Infection Risk: While the tattoo needle may be new, there is still a risk of infection, especially if the tattooing occurs near the surgical site. It is advisable to wait until the surgical area has healed completely before getting a tattoo to minimize the risk of complications.

- Healing Timeline: The healing of the surgical site and the tattoo area may overlap. It is crucial to ensure that both areas are adequately healed before engaging in activities that could compromise healing.

Assessing Recovery
To determine if your penis is healing correctly, you should look for the following signs:
- Reduction in Swelling: Over time, you should notice a decrease in swelling and bruising. If swelling persists or worsens, consult your surgeon.

- Pain Levels: Pain should gradually decrease as you recover. If you experience increasing pain or discomfort, it may indicate a complication.

- Functionality: While some swelling may persist for a while, any significant changes in curvature or functionality should be discussed with your surgeon.

- Follow-Up Appointments: Regular follow-up appointments with your surgeon are crucial for assessing your recovery and addressing any concerns. Your doctor will evaluate the surgical site and provide guidance on when you can resume normal activities.

Conclusion
In summary, recovery from penile curvature surgery requires patience and adherence to your surgeon's guidelines. While some swelling and discomfort are normal, monitoring your healing process and being aware of potential complications is essential. If you have any doubts or concerns about your recovery or the safety of getting a tattoo, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for personalized advice. Your health and safety should always come first.
