I would like to ask?
I recently noticed that the shape of my penis has changed and it looks unusual.
I have done a lot of research but couldn't find any answers.
The middle of my penis is noticeably thinner than the ends, but this is only visible when it's flaccid; when erect, it appears to have a consistent width.
I don't recall this happening before.
Could this be due to excessive masturbation? What could be the cause?

Hello, I’m not sure what you mean by "the middle being relatively small." I cannot provide an answer.
However, many things are acceptable as long as they function normally, and we don't need to pay too much attention to appearance.
If there are any details that are unclear, feel free to ask again, and we can discuss and research further.
Sincerely,
Dr.

When it comes to changes in the shape of the penis, it is important to understand that variations can be quite common and often do not indicate a serious medical issue. The penis can exhibit different shapes and sizes in both flaccid (non-erect) and erect states, and these variations can be influenced by several factors, including anatomical differences, hormonal levels, and even psychological factors.
In your case, you mentioned that your penis appears narrower in the middle when flaccid, but this changes to a consistent width when erect. This phenomenon is not unusual. The penis is composed of erectile tissue that fills with blood during an erection, causing it to expand and take on a more uniform shape. In the flaccid state, the penis can have a variety of shapes due to the way the tissues relax and the presence of the surrounding skin, including the foreskin.
The perception of a "narrowing" in the middle of the penis could be attributed to the natural anatomical structure of the penis, which can sometimes give the appearance of a tapered shape when not erect. Additionally, the presence of the foreskin can create visual and tactile differences, as it may be thinner near the glans (the head of the penis) and thicker towards the base. This can lead to a perception of a "step" or "ridge" when you touch or manipulate the foreskin.
Regarding your concern about whether excessive masturbation could be a cause of these changes, it is important to note that masturbation is a normal sexual activity and, in moderation, does not typically lead to physical changes in the penis. However, if you are experiencing discomfort, pain, or any other unusual symptoms, it may be worth discussing these concerns with a healthcare professional.
If you notice any significant changes in the appearance of your penis, such as lumps, bumps, or any discoloration, or if you experience pain during erections or urination, it is advisable to seek medical attention. A urologist can conduct a thorough examination and provide you with personalized advice based on your specific situation.
In summary, variations in penis shape, especially when flaccid, are generally normal and can be influenced by several factors. If the changes you are experiencing are not accompanied by pain or other concerning symptoms, they are likely not a cause for alarm. However, if you have ongoing concerns or if the appearance of your penis changes significantly, consulting a healthcare provider is always a good step to ensure your health and peace of mind.
