Urethral burning sensation?

Hello doctor, recently I have been experiencing a burning sensation while urinating, and sometimes there are traces of blood.
Occasionally, I feel a burning sensation in my urethra even when I don't need to urinate, and what comes out is just a few drops of blood or even small pieces of blood-colored material (about 0.1 to 0.2 mm).
This is not related to my menstrual period, as it has already passed, and I am certain that it is coming from my urethra.
I used to rarely feel the need to urinate, but lately, I haven't been drinking much water and I often feel the urge to urinate.
What could be wrong with me? Will it resolve on its own? I have exams coming up (July 2nd and 3rd), and if I wait until then to see a doctor, will it take too long?

There is a high chance of bladder inflammation; please go to the emergency room for an examination as soon as possible.

More Info

Urethral burning, especially when accompanied by blood in the urine, can be concerning and may indicate an underlying medical condition that requires attention. The symptoms you describe—burning sensation during urination, the presence of blood, and increased urgency to urinate—are not typical and should not be ignored.

Possible Causes
1. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI): One of the most common causes of burning during urination is a urinary tract infection. UTIs can cause inflammation of the urethra and bladder, leading to symptoms such as burning, urgency, and sometimes blood in the urine.

2. Kidney Stones: The presence of kidney stones can also lead to similar symptoms. As stones move through the urinary tract, they can cause irritation and bleeding.

3. Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Certain STIs, such as gonorrhea or chlamydia, can cause urethral burning and discharge. If you are sexually active, this is a possibility that should be considered.

4. Urethritis: Inflammation of the urethra, known as urethritis, can be caused by infections or irritants. This condition can lead to burning sensations and discharge.

5. Bladder or Urethral Injury: Any trauma to the urinary tract, whether from physical injury or irritation from certain products (like soaps or hygiene sprays), can cause burning and bleeding.

6. Other Medical Conditions: Conditions such as interstitial cystitis or bladder cancer, though less common, can also present with similar symptoms.

Symptoms to Monitor
- Blood in Urine: The presence of blood, even in small amounts, is a significant symptom that warrants medical evaluation.

- Increased Urgency: Frequent urges to urinate, especially if accompanied by pain, can indicate an infection or other issues.

- Fever or Chills: If you develop a fever, this could indicate a more serious infection that requires immediate attention.

- Persistent Symptoms: If the burning sensation or blood does not resolve within a few days, it is crucial to seek medical help.

When to Seek Help
Given the symptoms you are experiencing, it is advisable to seek medical attention sooner rather than later. While you may be busy with exams, ignoring these symptoms could lead to complications. A healthcare provider can perform necessary tests, such as a urinalysis or urine culture, to determine the cause of your symptoms and recommend appropriate treatment.

Conclusion
In summary, urethral burning with blood is not a normal occurrence and should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. While it is understandable to want to wait until after your exams, prioritizing your health is essential. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent complications and help you recover more quickly, allowing you to focus on your studies without the distraction of discomfort or worry about your health. Please consider making an appointment with a healthcare provider as soon as possible to address your symptoms.
