Erection while using the restroom?
I have recently experienced a lot of bubbles when urinating, and I often have to wait a long time.
Sometimes, I feel a lack of strength during erections, and there are times when I cannot achieve an erection while masturbating.
I also feel like I want to ejaculate quickly, and after some time without ejaculation, I lose my erection again.
Additionally, my hands and feet feel cold.
What symptoms could this indicate?
Mr. Huang, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2009/10/25
Dr. Xu Weikai reply Urology
Mr.
Huang: Hello, without any auxiliary examinations, I cannot provide you with much advice.
Generally, a healthy 25-year-old male should not experience erectile dysfunction unless there are specific issues.
These specific issues may include diabetes, hypertension, lack of sleep, poor diet, irregular lifestyle, substance abuse, etc.
Regarding the symptoms you mentioned, Western medicine cannot make a diagnosis without further testing, such as penile Doppler ultrasound, penile pressure testing, or cavernosography.
Other symptoms like cold hands and feet are considered by Western medicine to be due to poor blood circulation, which is often caused by insufficient physical activity.
It is recommended to follow the Ministry of Health's exercise guidelines (Exercise 333): at least three times a week, with each session lasting at least 30 minutes, aiming for a heart rate of 130 beats per minute.
Consistent exercise should effectively improve these issues.
If you have any further questions or need clarification, please feel free to ask, and we can discuss and research together.
Sincerely, Dr.
Hsu Wei-Kai, Urology Department, Taitung Hospital, Ministry of Health and Welfare.

More Info
Your symptoms suggest a complex interplay of urinary issues and erectile dysfunction, which can be influenced by various physical and psychological factors. Let's break down your concerns and explore potential underlying causes.
1. Frequent Urination and Bubbles in Urine: The presence of bubbles in your urine can be a sign of proteinuria, which indicates that protein is leaking into the urine. This can occur due to various conditions, including kidney disease, dehydration, or urinary tract infections. Frequent urination, especially if accompanied by urgency or discomfort, may suggest an overactive bladder or other urinary tract issues. It is essential to consult a urologist for a thorough evaluation, including urine tests and possibly imaging studies to assess kidney function and bladder health.
2. Erectile Dysfunction (ED): The difficulty in achieving or maintaining an erection, as well as the sensation of reduced strength during erections, can be attributed to several factors. Common causes of ED include:
- Psychological Factors: Anxiety, depression, and stress can significantly impact sexual performance. If you are experiencing emotional distress related to your urinary symptoms, this could contribute to your erectile difficulties.
- Physical Factors: Conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases can affect blood flow and nerve function, leading to ED. Additionally, hormonal imbalances, particularly low testosterone levels, can also play a role.
- Medications: Certain medications, including those for treating urinary issues or other health conditions, can have side effects that impact sexual function. It’s crucial to review your current medications with your healthcare provider to identify any potential culprits.
3. Cold Extremities: The sensation of cold hands and feet can be related to poor circulation or nerve issues. This symptom may also be linked to anxiety or stress, which can cause peripheral blood vessels to constrict. In some cases, it could indicate an underlying vascular condition that requires further investigation.
4. Rapid Ejaculation: The feeling of wanting to ejaculate quickly can be associated with anxiety or heightened sensitivity. This can be a common issue, especially if you are feeling pressure or stress regarding sexual performance. Techniques such as pelvic floor exercises, behavioral therapy, or medications may help manage this symptom.
Given the complexity of your symptoms, it is essential to approach this situation holistically. Here are some steps you can take:
- Consult a Urologist: A specialist can perform a comprehensive evaluation of your urinary symptoms, including urine tests, blood tests, and possibly imaging studies to assess kidney and bladder health.
- Seek Psychological Support: If anxiety or stress is contributing to your symptoms, consider speaking with a mental health professional. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) can be particularly effective in addressing performance anxiety and related issues.
- Review Medications: Discuss your current medications with your healthcare provider to determine if any could be affecting your urinary or sexual function. Adjustments may be necessary.
- Lifestyle Modifications: Incorporate healthy lifestyle changes, such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, and stress management techniques, which can improve overall health and potentially alleviate some of your symptoms.
In summary, your symptoms warrant a thorough evaluation by healthcare professionals who can address both the urinary and erectile dysfunction aspects. By taking a comprehensive approach, you can work towards identifying the underlying causes and finding effective treatments.
