Growths on the testicles and foreskin?

This issue has been bothering me for many years.
I have developed many white, pimple-like bumps on my testicles and foreskin that cannot be squeezed out and are itchy.
Even when I manage to squeeze them, they resemble large white comedones.
I kindly ask Dr.
Liu for assistance in addressing this matter.
Thank you!

Xiao Zhu, 30~39 year old female. Ask Date: 2009/11/11

Dr. Liu Jianting reply Urology

Don't worry! Don't squeeze it randomly; that's the hair follicle.
If it itches, consult a urologist.

The presence of white bumps on the testicles and foreskin can be concerning and may indicate several potential conditions. It is essential to understand the possible causes, as well as the appropriate steps to take for diagnosis and treatment.

One common cause of white bumps in these areas is Pearly Penile Papules. These are small, harmless bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans (the head of the penis). They are a normal anatomical variant and do not require treatment unless they cause discomfort or anxiety.

Another possibility is Fordyce Spots, which are small, painless, pale bumps that can appear on the shaft of the penis and the scrotum. These are sebaceous glands that are not associated with hair follicles and are completely benign.

Folliculitis is another condition that could lead to the appearance of white bumps. This occurs when hair follicles become inflamed, often due to infection or irritation. It can lead to small, pus-filled bumps that may itch or be tender. Treatment typically involves good hygiene and, in some cases, topical antibiotics.

Sebaceous Cysts can also form in the genital area. These are small lumps filled with keratin and can appear white or yellowish. They are generally harmless but can become infected or inflamed, requiring medical attention.

In some cases, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as herpes or human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause lesions or bumps in the genital area. These conditions may present with additional symptoms such as itching, burning, or discharge. If you suspect an STI, it is crucial to seek medical evaluation and treatment.

Contact Dermatitis or allergic reactions to soaps, lotions, or other products can also lead to irritation and the formation of bumps. Identifying and avoiding the irritant can help alleviate the symptoms.

If the bumps are accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, significant itching, or changes in the skin, it is essential to consult a healthcare provider for a thorough examination. They may perform a physical examination and, if necessary, order tests such as a swab or biopsy to determine the exact cause.

In summary, while white bumps on the testicles and foreskin can arise from various benign conditions, it is essential to monitor any changes and consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Maintaining good hygiene, avoiding irritants, and practicing safe sex can help prevent some of these conditions. If you have been experiencing these symptoms for years, it is advisable to seek medical advice to address your concerns and ensure your overall health.
