Genital itching
In the past couple of months, I've been experiencing itching in the genital area, especially after showering.
I first noticed something growing on the left labia (which I assume is internal); it doesn't look like a pimple, but rather like a fleshy growth with folds.
I can pinch and pull it without any pain (could it be a tumor?).
The color is dark red, and the itching in the genital area is particularly intense after bathing, to the point that I've scratched my skin.
In the past few weeks, I've also noticed a growth on the right side! Additionally, I've been experiencing abdominal pain upon waking up.
Could this be an issue with my uterus or ovaries, or could it be a sexually transmitted infection (I have not had a period for six months, have not engaged in sexual intercourse, and have not sought medical attention for menstrual issues)? What could be going on? If I go to the doctor, will I need a pelvic exam? (I'm afraid of that.) I hope the doctor can provide me with answers.
Thank you!

Hello: Based on your description, the fleshy protrusion on the labia could potentially be a tumor or caused by a viral infection (such as warts).
Regardless of the cause, it is important to seek medical evaluation promptly, and a biopsy may be necessary for pathological examination.
Thank you for your message!

When it comes to vaginal itching and the presence of growths in the genital area, it is essential to approach the situation with caution and seek medical advice. Based on your description, it sounds like you are experiencing a combination of symptoms that could be indicative of various conditions, some of which may require medical intervention.
Firstly, the itching you are experiencing, particularly after bathing, could be due to several factors. Common causes of vaginal itching include infections (such as yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis), irritants (like soaps or hygiene products), or skin conditions (such as eczema or lichen sclerosus). The fact that you have noticed growths on your labia, described as "meat" with folds, raises additional concerns. These growths could be benign conditions such as skin tags or cysts, but they could also be more serious, including vulvar lesions that may require further evaluation.
The dark red color of the growths and the fact that they are painless are noteworthy. While many benign conditions can present in this manner, it is crucial to rule out any malignant processes, especially given your age and the changes you are experiencing. The presence of abdominal pain, particularly if it is new or worsening, is another symptom that warrants attention. This could potentially indicate issues related to the ovaries or uterus, such as cysts, fibroids, or other conditions.
In terms of seeking medical advice, it is highly recommended that you consult with a healthcare provider, preferably a gynecologist. They can perform a thorough examination, which may include a pelvic exam to assess the growths and any other abnormalities. While the thought of an internal examination may be daunting, it is a critical step in ensuring your health and addressing your concerns. A gynecologist can provide a safe and comfortable environment to discuss your symptoms and perform necessary evaluations.
If the growths are concerning, your doctor may recommend a biopsy or other diagnostic tests to determine their nature. Additionally, if there are signs of infection or inflammation, appropriate treatments such as antifungal or antibacterial medications may be prescribed.
In summary, while some of the symptoms you describe may be benign, the combination of vaginal itching, growths, and abdominal pain suggests that a medical evaluation is warranted. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent potential complications and provide peace of mind. Do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional to discuss your symptoms and get the care you need. Your health is important, and addressing these concerns promptly can lead to better outcomes.
