What are the outpatient clinic hours?
Hello Dr.
Hsu,
I would like to inquire about the clinic hours around the Lunar New Year.
(1) I am considering a circumcision.
If I schedule an appointment on February 6 (Saturday), and February 13 (Saturday) is New Year's Eve, will there still be clinic hours available for the circumcision, or should I plan to come in a day earlier on February 12 (Friday)? (2) Regarding follow-up visits for medication changes, how long after the surgery should I return for a check-up? Since February 20 (Saturday) is still during the holiday period, will there be clinic hours available then? I usually work out of town, so I would like to take advantage of the holiday to visit the clinic in Keelung.
Thank you for your assistance, Dr.
Hsu.

More Info
When it comes to scheduling appointments at a urology clinic around the Lunar New Year, it’s essential to consider the specific dates and the typical practices of the clinic. Based on the information provided, it appears that the clinic has a structured schedule that accommodates patients' needs, especially during holiday periods.
1. Appointment for Circumcision: If you are looking to schedule a circumcision on February 6 (Saturday), it is advisable to proceed with that appointment. However, since February 13 is the Lunar New Year’s Eve, it is likely that the clinic may not be open for regular appointments on that day. Therefore, scheduling your circumcision for February 12 (Friday) would be a prudent choice. This way, you can ensure that you receive the necessary pre-operative consultation and any required preparations before the procedure.
2. Follow-Up Appointment for Medication Change: After undergoing a surgical procedure, it is standard practice to have a follow-up appointment to monitor recovery and manage any medications. Typically, patients are advised to return for a follow-up visit within one to two weeks post-surgery, depending on the type of procedure and individual recovery progress. In your case, if you have your surgery on February 12, you would likely be scheduled for a follow-up visit on February 13 to change your medication or assess your recovery. However, since February 20 falls within the Lunar New Year holiday period, it is essential to confirm whether the clinic will be open for appointments on that date.
Given that you work away from the area, it’s wise to utilize the holiday period to attend these appointments. Many clinics will have adjusted hours during holidays, so it’s crucial to check in advance to ensure that you can be seen without any issues.
In summary, for your circumcision, aim for February 12, and for your follow-up, check if February 13 is available. If not, you may need to schedule your follow-up for a later date, possibly after the holiday rush. Always confirm with the clinic directly to avoid any last-minute surprises.
Additionally, it’s important to remember that during holiday periods, clinics may experience higher patient volumes, so scheduling your appointments as early as possible is advisable. If you have any concerns about your recovery or the procedure itself, don’t hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for guidance. They can provide you with specific instructions tailored to your situation, ensuring that you have a smooth and successful experience.
