Regarding dizziness and headache examinations?
Hello Doctor, I visited you last Saturday, April 17th, and inquired about tests related to my dizziness.
Regarding the tests, can I make an appointment over the phone? Or do I need to see you again to schedule the tests? If I can make the appointment myself, could you please let me know the names of the tests? I forgot some of them, but I remember (1) vestibular function test and (2) @#$%^<< I forgot!! Thank you!!!!!!!!

Dear Inquirer,
Hello, arranging examinations for dizziness is not easy.
I wonder if your symptoms have improved.
Our hospital has limited examination options available; the basic tests include electronystagmography (ENG), caloric testing, and vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP).
Since there are some important details to discuss before the tests, it would be more appropriate to schedule a follow-up visit.
Sincerely,
Dr.

When dealing with dizziness and headaches, it's essential to consult with a specialist, such as an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) doctor, especially if these symptoms persist or worsen. Scheduling tests with an ENT specialist can be straightforward, but it often depends on the specific protocols of the clinic or hospital you are visiting.
To schedule your dizziness and headache tests, you can typically follow these steps:
1. Contact the Clinic or Hospital: The first step is to call the clinic or hospital where the ENT specialist practices. You can find the contact number on their official website or any appointment card you may have received during your last visit.
2. Inquire About Appointment Availability: When you call, explain that you are looking to schedule tests related to dizziness and headaches. The staff will guide you on the availability of the specialist and the necessary tests.
3. Ask About Specific Tests: You mentioned two tests: vestibular function tests (前庭神經功能檢查) and possibly others. It’s a good idea to ask the staff about the specific tests you need. Common tests for dizziness may include:
- Vestibular Function Tests: These assess the inner ear's balance function.
- Audiometry: This tests your hearing and can help determine if hearing loss is contributing to your dizziness.
- Electronystagmography (ENG): This measures eye movements to assess balance function.
- CT or MRI Scans: These imaging tests may be ordered to rule out structural issues in the brain or inner ear.
4. Follow-Up Appointment: In some cases, the clinic may require you to have a follow-up appointment with the ENT specialist before scheduling specific tests. This is often to ensure that the tests are necessary based on your symptoms and medical history.
5. Prepare for the Appointment: If you are able to schedule a test, make sure to prepare any necessary information, such as your medical history, a list of medications you are taking, and any previous test results that may be relevant.
6. Insurance and Payment: Before scheduling, check with your insurance provider to understand what tests are covered and if you need a referral from your primary care physician.
7. Documentation: If you have any previous medical records or notes from your last visit, have them ready to provide to the staff. This can help in determining the appropriate tests and ensuring continuity of care.
In summary, you can usually schedule tests by calling the ENT specialist's office directly. If you need to see the doctor again before scheduling, they will inform you. Make sure to ask about the specific tests you need and any preparations required for them. If dizziness and headaches persist, it’s crucial to follow up with a healthcare provider to rule out any serious underlying conditions.
