Is it a skin disease?
Hello Doctor: I have developed many white raised bumps at the base of my penis and on my scrotum, resembling acne-like lesions, about the size of a grain of rice.
They do not burst when pressed, and there is no discharge.
Sometimes they itch, and this has been bothering me for many years.
I have no sexual experience, occasionally relieve myself, and do not smoke or drink alcohol.
I usually wear jeans to sleep and during the day, but I rarely use body wash while showering, and I don’t dry my body thoroughly after washing.
Could this be a skin condition?

More Info
The white bumps you are describing on the base of your penis and scrotum could potentially be a skin condition known as Pearly Penile Papules (PPP). These are small, benign, and painless bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans penis. They are common and are not associated with any disease or infection. PPP is a normal anatomical variation and does not require treatment unless there is a cosmetic concern.
Another possibility is Folliculitis, which is an inflammation of the hair follicles that can occur due to irritation, infection, or blockage. This condition can present as small, red or white bumps that may itch or be tender. It is often caused by friction from clothing, improper hygiene, or even shaving.
Given that you mentioned these bumps have been present for several years and do not burst or leak fluid, it is less likely that they are caused by an infectious process such as a sexually transmitted infection (STI). However, if the bumps are itchy or changing in appearance, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis.
In terms of hygiene, while it is not necessary to use body wash every time you shower, it is important to maintain good hygiene practices. This includes washing the genital area with mild soap and water and ensuring that the area is dried properly afterward. Moisture can lead to irritation and may exacerbate certain skin conditions.
If you are experiencing discomfort or if the bumps are causing you significant concern, it would be advisable to see a dermatologist or a urologist. They can provide a thorough examination and may perform a biopsy if necessary to rule out other conditions.
In summary, while the white bumps you are experiencing could be benign and common, it is always best to seek professional medical advice to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Remember, self-diagnosis can often lead to unnecessary anxiety, so getting a professional opinion is the best course of action.
