Can I get pregnant?
Dear Doctor, I had my period on June 11, and then I think I had sexual intercourse around June 20.
My most recent period started on July 8, and I had unprotected sex on July 10 for less than 5 minutes.
My periods in the last two months have been lighter than usual.
I suspect this might be due to frequently drinking cold beverages and staying up late.
Additionally, I did not experience breast tenderness before my last two periods, but surprisingly, I have been experiencing breast swelling since July 17, which has lasted for 5 days now! I've also had occasional diarrhea and abdominal pain during these days.
This has never happened to me before.
Could you please help me understand what's going on? Thank you! What is the likelihood of pregnancy in this situation? I would appreciate any guidance or hints you could provide.

Hello, the description you provided cannot be used as a reference to determine if there is a pregnancy.
It is best to consult a physician for an ultrasound and urine test.
Otherwise, no matter how much more complicated the considerations, a definitive diagnosis cannot be made.
Thank you! Wishing you peace and health, Dr.
Zhang.

More Info
It sounds like you have a lot on your mind regarding the possibility of pregnancy and the symptoms you are experiencing. Let's break down your situation and address your concerns.
First, based on the timeline you provided, you had your last menstrual period on June 11, and you engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse on July 10. Given that sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to five days, there is a possibility that you could be pregnant from either of those encounters, especially if you have a regular menstrual cycle.
The symptoms you mentioned, such as breast tenderness (which you referred to as "涨奶" or milk swelling), abdominal pain, and diarrhea, can be associated with early pregnancy, but they can also be attributed to other factors, including hormonal changes or stress. Breast tenderness is a common early sign of pregnancy due to increased hormone levels, particularly progesterone. However, it is important to note that not all women experience this symptom, and its absence does not rule out pregnancy.
The fact that your menstrual flow has been lighter than usual could also be a sign of pregnancy, but it could also be influenced by lifestyle factors such as stress, diet (like consuming cold drinks), and lack of sleep. Stress and lifestyle changes can significantly affect your menstrual cycle, leading to irregularities.
Given that you experienced breast swelling on July 17, which is about a week after your last sexual encounter, it would be advisable to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are generally accurate if taken after a missed period, but since your cycles seem irregular, you might want to test sooner. If you test positive, it would confirm pregnancy, and if negative but you still suspect pregnancy, consider retesting a few days later.
Additionally, if you are experiencing abdominal pain and diarrhea, it is essential to monitor these symptoms. While mild abdominal discomfort can be common in early pregnancy, severe pain or persistent diarrhea should prompt a visit to a healthcare provider to rule out other conditions, such as an infection or gastrointestinal issues.
In summary, while there is a possibility of pregnancy based on your sexual encounters and the symptoms you are experiencing, the best course of action is to take a home pregnancy test. If you have any concerns about your symptoms or if they worsen, do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional for further evaluation and guidance. Remember, early prenatal care is crucial for a healthy pregnancy, so if you are pregnant, scheduling an appointment with your healthcare provider would be beneficial.
