Seeking treatment options for various symptoms?

Hello Dr.
Chen, I have many symptoms and since they span multiple specialties, I’ve heard that there can be interactions between different organs.
I would like to inquire about the most appropriate way to seek medical treatment.
Here are my symptoms:
1.
Chronic bronchial disease (I have taken both Western and Chinese medicine intermittently for over four years).
I have had persistent phlegm and a cough that produces sound.
In mid-July, I experienced difficulty breathing (I have had occasional nasal congestion in the past, but it never lasted more than one night).
I visited a pulmonologist for about a week, and an X-ray showed no issues.
The doctor suggested it was due to excessive post-nasal drip (but I have had severe nasal allergies since childhood).
A traditional Chinese medicine practitioner indicated that my body is weak, and the dosage should not be the standard amount, which caused an exaggerated reaction, so I took smaller doses more frequently (the symptoms appeared after taking the Chinese medicine).
2.
I have had nasal allergies since childhood; previously, I experienced a runny nose, but recently, post-nasal drip has become more severe.
3.
Since I was 16, I have had gastrointestinal issues, often experiencing bloating and stomach pain, with abnormal peristalsis (I have sought medical attention for inflammation and spasms about four times a year, and I usually take over-the-counter medications for stomach pain and digestion).
4.
My hands and feet are often cold, and sometimes my fingers feel slightly numb (not due to prolonged posture).
5.
Since April of this year, I have been yawning frequently, sometimes multiple times every minute, regardless of whether I have had enough sleep.
Could this indicate a lack of oxygen? How can I diagnose whether I am hypoxic?
6.
I easily feel fatigued, even with sufficient sleep.
7.
My skin is prone to allergies.
I have had eczema since I was 14, which flares up and then resolves repeatedly.
This year, I learned that it may be due to excessive dampness in my body.
In summary, I believe my heart, lungs (bronchi), kidneys, and stomach are not in good condition.
How should I approach treatment in sequence? Additionally, here are my personal habits:
1.
I eat out completely and have irregular meal times, rarely eating breakfast.
2.
I do not have an exercise routine.
3.
I usually go to bed late (around 2-3 AM) and wake up late (around 10 AM to noon).
4.
I seem to have a constitution that is inherently cold and weak.
I realize that my congenital issues combined with my lifestyle habits have likely had a significant impact.
I regret not living a healthier life and hope to seek help.
Thank you.

Navigating multiple symptoms and managing chronic health conditions can be quite challenging, especially when they span various medical specialties. Based on the symptoms you've described, it seems that you are dealing with a complex interplay of respiratory, gastrointestinal, dermatological, and possibly neurological issues. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you approach your healthcare needs effectively.

1. Chronic Bronchial Disease and Allergies
You mentioned a history of chronic bronchial disease, persistent cough, and nasal allergies. It’s crucial to address these symptoms holistically. Since you have been diagnosed with nasal drip and have a history of severe allergies, consider consulting an allergist or an ENT specialist. They can perform allergy testing to identify specific triggers and recommend appropriate treatments, which may include antihistamines, nasal corticosteroids, or even allergy shots (immunotherapy).

2. Gastrointestinal Issues
Your gastrointestinal symptoms, including bloating and irregular motility, suggest a possible functional gastrointestinal disorder, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). A gastroenterologist can help evaluate your symptoms further. Dietary changes, such as increasing fiber intake and reducing processed foods, can significantly improve gut health. Additionally, keeping a food diary may help identify specific food intolerances or triggers.

3. Circulatory and Neurological Symptoms
The cold extremities and occasional numbness in your fingers could indicate circulatory issues or nerve compression. A primary care physician or neurologist can assess these symptoms. They may recommend tests such as blood work to check for anemia or thyroid function, and nerve conduction studies to evaluate for conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome.

4. Fatigue and Sleep Issues
Frequent yawning and persistent fatigue, despite adequate sleep, can be signs of underlying conditions such as sleep apnea or chronic fatigue syndrome. A sleep study may be warranted to rule out sleep disorders. Additionally, improving sleep hygiene—such as establishing a regular sleep schedule and creating a restful environment—can help enhance sleep quality.

5. Skin Conditions
For your eczema and skin allergies, a dermatologist can provide targeted treatments. They may recommend topical corticosteroids or other medications to manage flare-ups. Additionally, lifestyle changes, such as avoiding known irritants and maintaining skin hydration, can be beneficial.

6. Lifestyle Modifications
Your current lifestyle habits, including irregular eating patterns, lack of exercise, and late sleeping hours, can significantly impact your overall health. Here are some recommendations:
- Diet: Aim for a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Consider meal prepping to ensure you have healthy options readily available.

- Exercise: Incorporate physical activity into your routine, even if it starts with short walks or light stretching. Regular exercise can improve circulation, boost mood, and enhance overall well-being.

- Sleep Hygiene: Try to establish a consistent sleep schedule. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night by going to bed and waking up at the same time daily.

7. Sequential Treatment Approach
Given the complexity of your symptoms, a sequential approach to treatment may be beneficial. Start by addressing the most pressing issues, such as respiratory health and gastrointestinal function, before moving on to skin and neurological concerns. Regular follow-ups with your healthcare providers will ensure that your treatment plan is adjusted as needed.

Conclusion
It’s essential to communicate openly with your healthcare providers about all your symptoms and concerns. A multidisciplinary approach, involving specialists from various fields, can provide a more comprehensive understanding of your health. Remember, lifestyle changes can significantly impact your health outcomes, so taking small, manageable steps towards a healthier lifestyle can lead to substantial improvements over time. Don’t hesitate to seek support from healthcare professionals who can guide you through this process.
