Weight issues?
Recently, I have been concerned about my health due to several issues that make me suspect I might have a serious illness.
Here are my concerns:
1.
I have had swollen lymph nodes in my neck for over a year, but their size has not changed significantly; they sometimes appear larger and sometimes smaller.
2.
I had a history of right-sided cryptorchidism as a child, and I underwent surgery at around age 5 to bring the testicle down into the scrotum.
Now at 32 years old, my right testicle is smaller than the left, approximately half its size.
3.
About a year ago, I developed a sebaceous cyst on the back of my neck due to improperly squeezed acne, which grew to 1.5 cm.
I had it surgically removed this month, and the biopsy confirmed it was a benign epidermoid cyst.
4.
In the past year, I have noticed swelling and small wounds on the anterior part of the left nasal septum, causing slight bleeding on three or four occasions.
The cause is unknown.
(The doctor mentioned that I have a deviated septum to the left and enlarged turbinates.) I have seen an ENT specialist, and after an endoscopic examination of the nasal passages and ears, no issues were found.
5.
I frequently experience oral ulcers, which generally heal within a week.
I have also visited a dentist, who said there were no significant problems.
6.
I previously had internal hemorrhoids and underwent a ligation procedure.
Occasionally, I still experience slight bleeding post-surgery.
I later had a colonoscopy, which showed no significant issues, except for a small polyp that was removed and tested normal.
7.
Recently, I noticed some spots on the soles of my feet and elsewhere on my body, which made me anxious enough to see a dermatologist.
The doctor said they were light in color, small, and showed no changes, so they should be benign.
8.
From 2009 to 2012, I had four blood tests, during which I noticed that my basophil count has increased yearly from 0.3%, 0.6%, 0.7%, to 0.9% (normal range is <1%).
My eosinophil count has also increased from 0.9%, 1.5%, 1.9%, to 2.1% (normal range is <6%).
Other white blood cell counts were around 5000-5500/µL, RBC 5.59, Hgb 15.9 g/dL, MCV 82.8 fL, MCH 28.4 pg, platelets 239, neutrophils 56%, lymphocytes 35.9%, and monocytes 5.1%, all within the laboratory's reference ranges.
However, I am somewhat concerned about the increasing basophil and eosinophil counts.
Regarding my weight, I have been fluctuating between 67.5 to 69.5 kg.
Previously, I had a normal breakfast and lunch but ate little or no dinner, maintaining a weight around 68-69.
Recently, I have been eating three meals a day and increasing my caloric intake, but my weight remains around 68-69 kg, with daily fluctuations of about 0.5-1 kg (before and after bowel movements).
Is this weight change normal? Is there any abnormal weight loss?
All of these issues have made me quite worried and have contributed to a low mood, leading me to wonder if I might have a serious illness.

Understanding weight fluctuations and health concerns can be quite complex, especially when there are multiple health issues at play. Based on your description, it seems you have several medical concerns that are causing you anxiety, and it's important to address these systematically.
Firstly, regarding your weight fluctuations, a variation of 0.5 to 1 kg in body weight throughout the day is generally considered normal. This fluctuation can be attributed to several factors, including hydration levels, food intake, and even the timing of your bowel movements. It's common for individuals to experience daily weight changes, especially if they consume different amounts of food or fluids. If your weight has remained relatively stable over time, this is usually a good sign, indicating that you are not experiencing significant weight loss or gain.
Now, let's address your specific health concerns:
1. Lymphadenopathy: The persistent enlargement of your neck lymph nodes could be due to various benign causes, such as infections or inflammation. Since you mentioned that the size fluctuates, this could suggest a reactive process rather than a malignancy. However, if the lymph nodes continue to be a concern, it would be prudent to follow up with your healthcare provider for further evaluation, including imaging studies or a biopsy if necessary.
2. Testicular History: Having a history of undescended testis (cryptorchidism) and subsequent surgery can lead to some differences in size between the testicles. As long as there are no associated symptoms like pain or discomfort, this is typically not a cause for concern. Regular check-ups with a urologist can help monitor any changes.
3. Sebaceous Cyst: The cyst you had removed was found to be benign, which is reassuring. These types of cysts are common and usually do not pose significant health risks. If you notice any new growths or changes in your skin, it’s advisable to consult a dermatologist.
4. Nasal Issues: The nasal mucosa swelling and minor bleeding could be related to your existing nasal septum deviation. This condition can lead to chronic irritation and may require management from an ENT specialist. If the bleeding persists or worsens, further evaluation may be warranted.
5. Oral Ulcers: Frequent canker sores can be frustrating. They can be triggered by stress, certain foods, or nutritional deficiencies. Maintaining a balanced diet and managing stress levels can help reduce their occurrence. If they become more frequent or severe, consider consulting a healthcare provider for further investigation.
6. Hemorrhoids: Occasional bleeding after your previous surgery is not uncommon. However, if the bleeding increases or changes in character, it’s essential to seek medical advice. Regular follow-ups with a gastroenterologist can help monitor your condition.
7. Skin Lesions: The skin lesions you mentioned appear to be benign based on your dermatologist's assessment. However, it’s always wise to keep an eye on any changes in size, color, or shape.
8. Blood Test Results: The gradual increase in basophils and eosinophils can be indicative of allergic reactions or other underlying conditions. While these values are still within the normal range, it’s essential to discuss these trends with your healthcare provider, who may recommend further testing or monitoring.
In summary, while your concerns are valid, many of the issues you described are common and often benign. It’s crucial to maintain open communication with your healthcare providers, who can help you navigate these health concerns and provide reassurance. Regular check-ups, a balanced diet, and stress management techniques can significantly improve your overall well-being. If you find that your anxiety about these health issues is overwhelming, consider speaking with a mental health professional who can provide support and coping strategies. Remember, taking proactive steps towards your health is the best way to alleviate concerns and improve your quality of life.
