Glans surface

I would like to ask the doctor about my condition.
I have phimosis, but I clean myself daily.
I have noticed that the surface of my glans penis has some noticeable wrinkles when not erect.
The color of the glans is primarily pink, but there are areas where the pink is darker and some where it is lighter.
I'm not sure if the wrinkles are causing some areas to appear slightly raised and red (but there is no pain or itching).
However, when I am erect, the surface becomes very smooth and even.
Is this considered normal? Thank you for your help, doctor!

When it comes to the appearance and texture of the glans penis, variations are quite common and can be influenced by several factors, including anatomical differences, skin elasticity, and the presence of conditions such as phimosis (a condition where the foreskin cannot be fully retracted over the glans).
In your case, having a longer foreskin that you clean daily is a good practice for hygiene. The presence of noticeable wrinkles or folds on the glans when it is not erect is generally normal. The skin of the glans is quite elastic and can exhibit various textures and appearances based on its state (flaccid vs. erect). When the penis is flaccid, the skin may appear more wrinkled due to the lack of tension, while during an erection, the skin stretches, leading to a smoother appearance.
The color variations you describe, with some areas of the glans appearing a deeper or lighter shade of pink, can also be normal. The glans is typically a pinkish color, but factors such as blood flow, skin thickness, and even the presence of underlying blood vessels can cause variations in color. The fact that you do not experience any pain or itching is a positive sign, as discomfort could indicate an underlying issue.

It's important to note that the glans can also have small bumps or elevations that are completely benign, such as pearly penile papules or sebaceous glands. These are normal anatomical features and are not a cause for concern unless they change in appearance, become painful, or are accompanied by other symptoms.

If you have concerns about the appearance of your glans or if you notice any changes, such as increased redness, swelling, or discomfort, it would be advisable to consult a healthcare professional. They can provide a thorough examination and reassurance or treatment if necessary.

In summary, the variations in appearance and texture of your glans, as you described, are likely normal, especially considering the context of your hygiene practices and the absence of discomfort. However, maintaining open communication with a healthcare provider about any changes or concerns is always a good practice for your overall health and peace of mind.
