Postoperative care after hemorrhoid surgery?
Hello Doctor, a while ago I underwent surgery to remove congenital internal and external moles that had become severely inflamed, along with treatment for genital warts through electrocautery.
During a recent follow-up appointment, the doctor mentioned that there seems to be an issue with anal stenosis (he indicated that the warts had formed a ring, which I found out could be the reason).
He advised me to insert my finger for dilation over the next two days, and I noticed a granular sensation on the intestinal wall when I went deeper.
Is this normal? However, the doctor did not mention anything during the internal examination that day, but I still have some concerns.
It has been over a month since the surgery, and a few days ago, I experienced harder and coarser stools, which made me feel like the intestinal wall was being pulled at the site of injury.
I have been applying Neomycin ointment as usual.
I would like to inquire about the granular sensation I feel when inserting my finger into the intestinal wall (is it scar tissue or a recurrence?), and whether the intestinal wall is more susceptible to injury post-surgery.
Thank you for taking the time to address my concerns.

Anal stenosis is a possible complication that may occur after anal surgery, which can lead to increased pain during bowel movements.
However, your correspondence did not indicate any related symptoms, so we remain skeptical about this diagnosis.
As for the texture of the granules within the intestinal wall, I cannot provide an answer without a physical examination.
It could potentially be a recurrence of condyloma or postoperative scar tissue.
Please return to your original treating physician for a more thorough examination to obtain a definitive diagnosis.

After undergoing surgery for the removal of hemorrhoids and warts, it is common for patients to have concerns regarding their recovery and any potential complications. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing some discomfort and unusual sensations in the anal area, which can be quite concerning. Let's break down your concerns and provide some insights into what you might be experiencing.
Firstly, the sensation of "bumps" or "lumps" that you feel when you insert your finger into the anal canal could be attributed to several factors. After surgery, the tissue in the area can be swollen or healing, which may create a bumpy texture. This is often due to scar tissue formation, which is a normal part of the healing process. However, if these bumps are new or have changed since your surgery, it is essential to monitor them closely.
The presence of a "tight" feeling or narrowing of the anal canal, as mentioned by your doctor, could indicate anal stenosis, which is a potential complication following hemorrhoid surgery. This condition can occur if there is excessive scar tissue formation or if the surgical site heals in a way that causes the anal canal to narrow. It is crucial to follow your doctor's advice regarding dilation exercises, as these can help alleviate the tightness and improve the passage of stool.
Regarding your concern about the roughness of your stools and the sensation of pulling or stretching during bowel movements, this can be a common issue post-surgery. After any surgical procedure in the anal area, patients may experience changes in bowel habits, including constipation or harder stools, which can lead to discomfort during defecation. It is essential to maintain a high-fiber diet, stay hydrated, and consider using stool softeners if necessary to ease bowel movements and prevent straining, which can further irritate the surgical site.
As for the application of ointments like new梅素 (a topical medication), it is generally advisable to continue using prescribed treatments to promote healing and reduce inflammation. However, if you notice any unusual symptoms, such as increased pain, bleeding, or changes in the texture of the bumps, it is vital to consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation.
In terms of your concern about the anal canal being more susceptible to injury post-surgery, it is true that the area may be more sensitive during the healing phase. The tissues are still recovering, and any trauma, including from hard stools or vigorous dilation, can lead to discomfort or injury. Therefore, it is essential to be gentle and cautious during this period.
Lastly, if you have any doubts or persistent concerns about the bumps or any other symptoms, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider. They may recommend imaging studies or further examinations to ensure that everything is healing as expected and to rule out any complications such as recurrence of warts or other issues.
In summary, while some discomfort and unusual sensations can be expected after surgery for hemorrhoids and warts, it is crucial to monitor your symptoms closely and maintain open communication with your healthcare provider. Following their recommendations for dilation and care will help facilitate a smoother recovery. If you experience any alarming symptoms, seek medical attention promptly to address your concerns.
