Prostate Inflammation Treatment: Magnetic Chairs vs. Infrared Devices - Urology

Regarding the treatment of prostatitis?

Quote: Taitung Hospital / Urology / Dr.
Hsu Wei-Kai: "The treatment range of the magnetic wave chair is quite limited, approximately 8-12 cm above the surface of the chair, with the effectiveness decreasing from the center.
Generally, the effective range is about a 10 cm circular area.
It is not possible to treat the entire pelvic cavity; it can only provide localized treatment for the pelvic floor.
The principle is to use electromagnetic waves to generate microcurrents that stimulate blood circulation, among other effects.
Any department that has the machine can use it.
In some hospitals, the machines are shared across departments.
Answers found online should only serve as references; it is necessary to seek medical care at a healthcare facility."
"Thank you, Dr.
Hsu, for your explanation.
I will still consider trying it! However, I would like to know if you have had patients who have used the magnetic wave chair for treatment and experienced improvement or recovery? If so, could you share that with me? I need a bit of confidence! In fact, some doctors have recommended that I purchase a far-infrared (broad spectrum) machine, but due to the high cost, I am unsure about its long-term effects (heat penetration) on fertility.
In terms of rehabilitation treatment for the perineal area, is the effectiveness of the magnetic wave chair superior to that of the far-infrared machine? Lastly, I learned about the treatment with the magnetic wave chair from this report, and I would like to ask what medications are used in the cocktail therapy mentioned in urology.
If Dr.
Hsu knows, could you please mention some medications for my reference? I will then consult my doctor to consider prescribing them for me.

A Hong, 30~39 year old female. Ask Date: 2015/01/15

Dr. Xu Weikai reply Urology

Ah Hong: Hello, of course, some patients experience relief.
I am not sure if magnetic wave chairs are superior to far infrared therapy.
In this regard, rehabilitation physicians have more experience.
Note: I personally have not used any far infrared devices.
The so-called cocktail therapy does not refer to fixed medications.
It refers to the use of multiple medications based on the patient's condition.
For example: pain relievers + antibiotics + muscle relaxants; pain relievers + antispasmodics + mood stabilizers, and so on.
It is not about using a single medication, but rather providing appropriate medications according to the patient's condition.
Additionally, the report emphasizes the need for appropriate exercise, which I believe is the key to successful treatment.
Besides medication, patients also need to cooperate at home with aspects such as diet, exercise, heat therapy, and massage.
In my personal experience, many patients show more lasting improvement in chronic prostatitis after being encouraged to engage in regular long-term exercise than with medication.
General exercise recommendations are: at least 3 times a week, with each session lasting at least 30 minutes.
The intensity of exercise is generally assessed by heart rate: during 30 minutes of exercise, it is recommended to exceed "(220 - age) * 0.7 beats per minute," sustained for at least 3-5 minutes.
Note: (220 - age) is the maximum safe heart rate.
Exceeding this rate may pose a risk of injury to the heart muscle.

When it comes to treating prostate inflammation, the choice between magnetic chairs and infrared devices can be quite nuanced, and understanding the differences can help you make an informed decision about your treatment options.

Magnetic Chairs
Magnetic chairs utilize electromagnetic waves to stimulate blood circulation and promote healing in localized areas. According to Dr. Hsu Wei-Kai from Taitung Hospital, the effective treatment range of these chairs is limited to about 8-12 centimeters above the surface of the chair, making it suitable for localized treatment of the pelvic floor. The principle behind this therapy is that the electromagnetic waves generate small electrical currents that can enhance blood flow, potentially aiding in the reduction of inflammation and pain.

While some patients have reported improvements in their symptoms after using magnetic chairs, it is essential to note that the effectiveness can vary from person to person. The treatment is generally considered safe, but it is always advisable to consult with a healthcare provider to determine if it is appropriate for your specific condition.

Infrared Devices
On the other hand, infrared devices, particularly those that use far-infrared technology, are designed to penetrate deeper into the tissues. They provide a broader area of heat, which can help in relaxing muscles, improving circulation, and alleviating pain. The concern regarding the long-term use of infrared devices and their potential impact on fertility is a valid one, as excessive heat exposure to the pelvic area can affect sperm production. However, when used appropriately and not excessively, many users find infrared therapy beneficial for muscle relaxation and pain relief.

Comparison and Considerations
When comparing magnetic chairs to infrared devices, the choice largely depends on the specific symptoms and areas of concern. Magnetic chairs may be more effective for localized treatment, while infrared devices might offer broader benefits due to their deeper penetration and ability to cover larger areas.

If you are considering these treatments, it is crucial to discuss them with your healthcare provider. They can help you weigh the benefits and risks based on your medical history and current condition. Additionally, they can provide insights into the "cocktail therapy" mentioned in the article, which typically involves a combination of medications tailored to address prostate inflammation. Common medications might include anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics (if an infection is present), and alpha-blockers to help relieve urinary symptoms.

Conclusion
In summary, both magnetic chairs and infrared devices have their merits in treating prostate inflammation, but they serve different purposes and have varying degrees of effectiveness. Your choice should be guided by your specific symptoms, the advice of your healthcare provider, and your personal preferences. Always ensure that any treatment you pursue is backed by medical advice and tailored to your individual health needs.
