White Bumps on the Glans: Pearly Penile Papules or Inflammation? - Urology

There are millet-sized white spots on the glans?

There has been no sexual activity.
Four days ago, I noticed a white spot about the size of a grain of rice in the coronal sulcus of the glans.
When I pinch it with my fingers, it does not hurt or itch; it feels slightly firm and slightly raised.
Prior to this white spot, I already had pearly penile papules, so the surface of this white spot resembles the condition of pearly penile papules.
I regularly clean the area during hygiene routines, and there is no issue with long-term accumulation of dirt, nor is there a problem with phimosis.
Could this be considered balanitis, or is it also classified as pearly penile papules?

It sounds a bit unusual; it is recommended to visit a urologist to document and monitor the situation.
If the doctor finds any issues, they may even suggest performing a biopsy.

More Info

When it comes to the appearance of white bumps on the glans, particularly in the context you've described, it is essential to differentiate between common benign conditions and potential inflammatory issues. Based on your description, it seems likely that what you are observing could be pearly penile papules (PPP), which are a normal anatomical variant and not a disease.

Pearly penile papules are small, dome-shaped, white or skin-colored bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans. They are usually asymptomatic, meaning they do not cause pain, itching, or discomfort, which aligns with your experience. These papules are quite common and are considered a normal variant of male anatomy, affecting a significant percentage of men. They are not associated with any sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or other health issues, and they do not require treatment unless they cause psychological distress or cosmetic concerns.

In contrast, if the white bump you are noticing is new and different from the pearly penile papules you have previously identified, it could potentially indicate a different condition. For instance, inflammation of the glans, known as balanitis, can occur due to various factors, including irritation, infection, or poor hygiene. Balanitis can present with redness, swelling, and sometimes discharge, but it typically would cause discomfort or pain, which you have not reported.

Given that you have no history of sexual activity and maintain good hygiene, the likelihood of an infectious cause is low. However, if you notice any changes in the appearance of the bump, such as increased size, color changes, or the development of associated symptoms like pain or discharge, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation.

In summary, based on the information provided, the white bump you are observing is most likely a continuation of the pearly penile papules you mentioned. However, if there are any changes or if you develop any symptoms, seeking medical advice would be prudent. Regular self-examinations and maintaining good hygiene are excellent practices for monitoring your health. If you have any concerns about your genital health, do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare provider for personalized advice and reassurance.
