Something that resembles acne?
After taking a shower, I noticed small white bumps on my areolas and nipples that resemble pimples.
When I squeeze them, a white, comedone-like discharge comes out.
Additionally, when I press on my breasts, I feel small, round lumps.
What could be the reason for this?

Hello,
1.
The small, pimple-like lesions on the skin are often due to overactive sebaceous glands that can become partially obstructed, leading to the accumulation of fluid or secretions.
When expressed, they may release a white discharge, which is usually benign but can be prone to infection, so caution is advised (if they enlarge or become infected, surgical treatment may sometimes be necessary).
2.
When pressing on the breast, if you feel small, round lumps, could they be related to the skin of the breast? If they resemble goosebumps, this may indicate an acute change due to a skin infection.
Wishing you safety and health.

White bumps on the nipples, often described as small white spots or pimples, can be concerning, especially if they appear suddenly or are accompanied by other symptoms. These bumps can be attributed to several benign conditions, but understanding their nature is essential for proper management and peace of mind.
One common cause of white bumps on the nipples is the presence of Montgomery glands. These are small sebaceous glands located around the areola (the pigmented area surrounding the nipple). They secrete an oily substance that helps lubricate and protect the nipple and areola, especially during breastfeeding. When these glands become clogged or inflamed, they can appear as small white bumps. This is generally harmless and may not require any treatment.
Another possibility is keratosis pilaris, a condition characterized by small, rough bumps on the skin caused by the buildup of keratin, a protein found in the skin. While this condition is more commonly seen on the arms, thighs, and cheeks, it can also affect the nipple area. Keratosis pilaris is usually harmless and often resolves on its own.
Folliculitis is another potential cause, which is the inflammation of hair follicles. This can occur due to bacterial or fungal infections, leading to small, red, or white bumps that may resemble pimples. If the bumps are itchy or painful, or if there is pus, it may indicate an infection that could require medical attention.
In some cases, blocked pores can lead to the formation of whiteheads or small cysts. These can occur due to the accumulation of oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. If you notice that these bumps are persistent or increasing in number, it may be worth consulting a healthcare provider for evaluation.
While most causes of white bumps on the nipples are benign, it is essential to monitor for any changes. If the bumps become painful, change in appearance, or are accompanied by other symptoms such as discharge, redness, or swelling, it is advisable to seek medical attention. These could be signs of a more serious condition, such as an infection or, in rare cases, a skin condition that may require treatment.
In summary, white bumps on the nipples are often harmless and can be attributed to various benign conditions such as Montgomery glands, keratosis pilaris, or folliculitis. However, if there are any concerning symptoms or changes, it is always best to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation and appropriate management. Regular self-examination and awareness of your body can help you identify any changes early, ensuring timely intervention if necessary.
