Testicular discomfort?

Hello doctor, I have an uncomfortable sensation in my right testicle, but it's not pain.
When I gently squeeze it or during oral sex, I experience a discomfort similar to the feeling of suddenly falling and hitting my chest.
This sensation didn't occur before.
Could you please advise me on what might be the cause? Thank you.

Experiencing discomfort in the right testicle can be concerning, and it's important to understand the potential causes and when to seek medical attention. While I cannot provide a diagnosis, I can offer some insights into possible reasons for your discomfort and suggest steps you might consider taking.

First, it's essential to recognize that discomfort in the testicles can arise from various factors, including but not limited to:
1. Injury or Trauma: If you've recently engaged in physical activities that could have led to trauma, even minor, it could cause discomfort. The sensation you described, akin to a feeling of having fallen or bumped into something, may suggest a mild injury.

2. Epididymitis: This is an inflammation of the epididymis, the tube that carries sperm from the testicle. It can cause discomfort and is often accompanied by swelling or tenderness. This condition can be caused by infections, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

3. Testicular Torsion: This is a medical emergency where the spermatic cord becomes twisted, cutting off blood supply to the testicle. Although this typically presents with severe pain, some individuals may experience discomfort before the pain becomes acute. If you experience sudden, severe pain, swelling, or nausea, seek immediate medical attention.

4. Varicocele: This condition involves enlarged veins within the scrotum, which can cause a feeling of heaviness or discomfort. It is more common on the left side but can occur on the right as well.

5. Hernia: An inguinal hernia occurs when tissue protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. This can lead to discomfort in the groin or testicular area, especially when straining or lifting.

6. Hydrocele: This is a fluid-filled sac around a testicle that can cause swelling and discomfort. It is usually painless but can lead to a feeling of heaviness.

7. Tumors or Cysts: While less common, growths in the testicle or surrounding areas can cause discomfort. It's essential to monitor any changes in size or shape of the testicle.

Given that your discomfort is not accompanied by pain but is noticeable during certain activities, it may be less urgent than conditions that present with severe pain. However, it is still important to monitor your symptoms closely. Here are some steps you can take:
- Self-Examination: Regularly perform self-examinations of your testicles to check for any lumps, swelling, or changes in size. This can help you identify any abnormalities early.

- Avoid Aggravating Activities: If certain activities, such as vigorous exercise or sexual activity, exacerbate your discomfort, consider modifying these activities until you have a clearer understanding of the cause.

- Consult a Healthcare Provider: If the discomfort persists, worsens, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as swelling, redness, fever, or changes in urination, it is crucial to consult a healthcare provider. They may perform a physical examination and possibly order imaging tests, such as an ultrasound, to determine the underlying cause.

- Stay Informed: Educate yourself about testicular health and the signs of potential issues. This knowledge can empower you to seek help when necessary.

In conclusion, while discomfort in the right testicle can arise from various benign causes, it is essential to remain vigilant and consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist or worsen. Early intervention can lead to better outcomes and peace of mind regarding your health.
