Pain near the heart area?
Hello, I would like to ask about something.
Yesterday, while playing with someone, I was squeezed around the chest with their legs.
After that, I took a deep breath, got up quickly from lying down, and made some large arm movements, which caused pain near my heart.
Could this be an internal injury or something else?

More Info
Chest pain can arise from a variety of causes, and understanding the underlying reasons is crucial for determining whether medical attention is needed. Based on your description, it seems that the pain you experienced in the chest area could be related to a few different factors, particularly given the context of physical activity and sudden movements.
1. Musculoskeletal Pain: The most common cause of chest pain in young, otherwise healthy individuals is musculoskeletal pain. This can occur from muscle strain, especially if you were engaging in vigorous activity, such as being held tightly or making sudden arm movements. The muscles in the chest wall can become strained, leading to localized pain that may worsen with movement or deep breathing.
2. Costochondritis: This is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the sternum. It can cause sharp pain in the chest, especially when taking deep breaths or moving the upper body. This condition is often benign and can be treated with rest, ice, and over-the-counter pain relievers.
3. Referred Pain: Sometimes, pain in the chest can be referred from other areas of the body, such as the neck or shoulders. If you were using your arms extensively, it’s possible that the pain could be related to muscle tension or strain in those areas.
4. Cardiac Concerns: While less likely in your case, it’s important to consider cardiac issues, especially if the pain is severe, accompanied by other symptoms such as shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, or radiating pain to the arms, neck, or jaw. If you have risk factors for heart disease (such as a family history, smoking, or high blood pressure), it’s essential to seek medical attention promptly.
5. Internal Injuries: Given that you mentioned being squeezed tightly, there is a possibility of a rib injury or even a bruise to the chest wall. If you experience significant pain, difficulty breathing, or if the pain worsens over time, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional.
When to Seek Help
You should seek medical attention if:
- The chest pain is severe or worsening.
- You experience additional symptoms such as shortness of breath, dizziness, or fainting.
- The pain persists for an extended period or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms.
Conclusion
In summary, while your symptoms may be related to musculoskeletal strain or costochondritis, it’s essential to monitor your condition. If the pain continues or worsens, or if you develop any alarming symptoms, do not hesitate to seek medical evaluation. It’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to chest pain, as early intervention can be crucial in addressing any underlying issues.
