Dust mites? Insect bites?
Recently, I have noticed red spots on my skin that are about the size of mosquito bites.
However, they are flat and do not have any swelling.
They are neither itchy nor painful, resembling larger hemangiomas.
Over the past month, I have developed 4 to 5 of these spots.
I would like to ask the doctor if there are any insects or dust mites that can bite and cause these symptoms without redness, swelling, pain, or itching?

A literal description without actually seeing the lesion cannot confirm the diagnosis; it is recommended to have a dermatologist evaluate it for proper assessment.

Unexplained skin red spots can be concerning, especially when they appear without accompanying symptoms such as itching or pain. Based on your description, these spots resemble flat, red marks that are similar in size to mosquito bites but do not exhibit the typical swelling or discomfort associated with insect bites. This raises several possibilities regarding their origin.
Firstly, it is important to consider that not all insect bites result in the classic symptoms of redness, swelling, and itching. Some individuals may have a milder reaction to bites from insects such as mosquitoes, fleas, or bedbugs, which can manifest as flat red spots without significant inflammation. However, it is less common for bites from these insects to appear without any associated symptoms.
Another possibility is that these red spots could be related to a dermatological condition rather than insect bites. Conditions such as petechiae, which are small, flat red or purple spots caused by bleeding under the skin, can occur for various reasons, including minor trauma, certain medications, or underlying health issues. Similarly, conditions like cherry angiomas or other vascular lesions can appear as flat red spots on the skin and are generally harmless.
Additionally, allergic reactions to environmental factors, such as dust mites or certain foods, can sometimes cause skin changes that do not fit the typical profile of hives or rashes. These reactions can lead to the appearance of red spots without the accompanying itch or pain.
Given that you have noticed multiple spots developing over the past month, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional or a dermatologist for a thorough evaluation. They can perform a physical examination and may recommend further tests, such as blood work or a skin biopsy, to determine the exact nature of these spots.
In the meantime, it may be beneficial to keep track of any other symptoms you experience, such as changes in your overall health, new medications, or exposure to potential allergens. This information can be valuable for your healthcare provider in making an accurate diagnosis.
In conclusion, while it is possible that these red spots could be related to insect bites, there are several other potential explanations that warrant further investigation. Seeking medical advice is the best course of action to ensure proper diagnosis and management of your skin condition.
