Painful Growths Beneath the Penis: What You Need to Know - Urology

There is a small tumor?

I have recently noticed a small lump located just below the glans of my penis, slightly towards the underside.
It does not hurt when it is not engorged, but when it becomes erect, it is very painful, almost like a sharp pain from pressure.
When I touch it, I can feel a small bump just below the glans.
Could this be a urethral tumor? I am very worried and unsure about what the issue might be.
Could you please respond quickly?

More Info

It sounds like you are experiencing a concerning issue with a painful growth beneath your penis, specifically just below the glans. First and foremost, it's important to understand that any new growth or change in your body, especially in sensitive areas, should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. While I can provide some general information, a proper diagnosis can only be made through a physical examination and potentially further testing.

The growth you are describing could be a number of things. One possibility is a benign condition such as a cyst or a fibroma, which are non-cancerous lumps that can occur in various parts of the body, including the genital area. These types of growths can sometimes become painful, especially if they are pressed upon or irritated. Another possibility is a condition known as a penile papule, which are small, harmless bumps that can appear around the glans and are often mistaken for warts or other growths.

However, your concern about the possibility of a urethral tumor is understandable, especially given the pain you experience when the area is engorged. Urethral tumors are rare but can occur, and they may present with symptoms such as pain, bleeding, or changes in urination. Other conditions that could cause similar symptoms include infections, such as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), or inflammatory conditions like balanitis, which is an inflammation of the glans.

It's also worth noting that pain during erection or when the area is stimulated can sometimes be related to conditions such as Peyronie's disease, which involves the development of fibrous scar tissue inside the penis, leading to curved, painful erections.

Given the range of possibilities, it is crucial to seek medical attention. A urologist, who specializes in male reproductive health, would be the most appropriate specialist to consult. They can perform a thorough examination, possibly including imaging studies or a biopsy if necessary, to determine the exact nature of the growth.
In the meantime, avoid any activities that may irritate the area further, such as vigorous sexual activity or excessive manipulation of the growth. Keeping the area clean and dry is also important to prevent any potential infections.

In summary, while there are several benign explanations for the growth you are experiencing, it is essential to have it evaluated by a healthcare professional to rule out any serious conditions. Early diagnosis and treatment can help alleviate your concerns and ensure your health and well-being. Please make an appointment with a urologist as soon as possible to get the answers you need.
