Why is there fresh blood when wiping after a bowel movement?

I usually have a bowel movement about 1 to 2 times a day, but this morning when I wiped, there was bright red blood on the toilet paper.
It wasn't much, but when I looked in the toilet, the stool was yellow.
I typically drink a lot of water and don't eat much fried food; I eat vegetables first before my meals.
For dinner, I mainly have boiled vegetables and eggs.
I'm quite worried about whether I might be sick.

Seeing bright red blood on toilet paper after a bowel movement can be concerning, and it's understandable that you're worried about your health. The presence of bright red blood typically indicates that the source of the bleeding is in the lower gastrointestinal tract, particularly the rectum or anus. Here are some common causes and considerations regarding this symptom:
1. Hemorrhoids: One of the most common reasons for bright red blood on toilet paper is hemorrhoids, which are swollen veins in the rectal area. They can be internal or external and often cause bleeding during bowel movements, especially if the stool is hard or if you are straining. Symptoms may include itching, discomfort, or a lump near the anus.

2. Anal Fissures: Another potential cause is an anal fissure, which is a small tear in the lining of the anus. This can occur due to passing hard stools or straining during bowel movements. Fissures can be quite painful and may cause bright red blood on toilet paper.

3. Diverticular Disease: Diverticulosis, which involves the formation of small pouches in the colon wall, can sometimes lead to diverticulitis, where these pouches become inflamed or infected. This condition can also cause bleeding.

4. Gastrointestinal Conditions: Other gastrointestinal issues, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or colorectal polyps, can also lead to rectal bleeding. However, these conditions are less common and often present with additional symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhea, or changes in bowel habits.

5. Dietary Factors: While you mentioned a healthy diet, certain foods can sometimes irritate the digestive tract or lead to changes in bowel habits. For instance, a sudden increase in fiber intake or consuming certain irritants can lead to changes in stool consistency and potentially contribute to bleeding.

Given your description of normal bowel habits and a generally healthy lifestyle, the presence of bright red blood could likely be attributed to hemorrhoids or an anal fissure, especially if you have experienced any straining during bowel movements. However, it is essential to monitor your symptoms closely.

Recommendations:
- Observation: If the bleeding is minimal and does not persist, you may choose to observe for a few days. Ensure you maintain adequate hydration and a high-fiber diet to prevent constipation and straining.

- Avoid Straining: When using the bathroom, try to avoid straining. If you find that your stools are hard, consider increasing your fiber intake gradually and drinking plenty of water.

- Consult a Healthcare Provider: If the bleeding continues, increases in volume, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, changes in bowel habits, or weight loss, it is crucial to consult a healthcare provider. They may recommend a physical examination and possibly a colonoscopy to rule out any serious conditions.

- Self-Care: In the meantime, you can consider over-the-counter treatments for hemorrhoids, such as topical creams or suppositories, to alleviate discomfort.

In conclusion, while bright red blood on toilet paper can be alarming, it is often related to benign conditions like hemorrhoids or anal fissures. However, it is always best to err on the side of caution and seek medical advice if you have any concerns about your health.
