Pain inside the left testicle?

Hello, I have a small tumor in the vascular area of my left testicle.
It doesn't usually cause any discomfort, but sometimes it feels sore when pressed.
I can feel it when I touch it, and it seems to be growing on a blood vessel.
I've been concerned because I've been engaging in masturbation (once or twice a day).
I would like to know if this is something to worry about.
Generally, I don't experience pain while walking.

Mr. Wang, 30~39 year old female. Ask Date: 2015/12/09

Mr.
Wang: Hello, you may have epididymitis, accompanied by localized swelling.
It could also be another issue.
I recommend seeking medical treatment.
If necessary, an ultrasound examination can be performed.
If there are any unclear points, feel free to ask again so we can discuss and research further.

Left testicular pain can be concerning, especially when accompanied by the sensation of a lump or swelling. It’s important to understand that the testicles are sensitive organs, and any changes or discomfort should be evaluated carefully. Based on your description, it sounds like you may be experiencing a condition related to the blood vessels or structures within the scrotum, such as a varicocele or possibly a cyst.

A varicocele is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum, similar to varicose veins in the legs. This condition can cause a dull ache or discomfort, particularly after prolonged standing or physical activity. It is usually more noticeable when sitting or standing for long periods. Varicoceles are quite common and can sometimes be asymptomatic, but they may also lead to complications such as infertility if left untreated.

Another possibility is the presence of a spermatocele, which is a cyst that forms in the epididymis (the tube that carries sperm from the testicle). These cysts are typically benign and filled with fluid. They can sometimes cause discomfort if they become large enough to press on surrounding structures, but they are generally not harmful.

Given that you mentioned the lump feels like it’s on a blood vessel, it’s crucial to differentiate between these benign conditions and more serious issues, such as testicular torsion or tumors. Testicular torsion is a medical emergency that occurs when the spermatic cord becomes twisted, cutting off blood supply to the testicle. This condition is characterized by sudden, severe pain and swelling and requires immediate medical attention.

While you mentioned that the pain is not present when walking and only occurs occasionally with pressure, it’s still advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation. A physical examination and possibly an ultrasound can help determine the nature of the lump and any underlying issues.
In terms of sexual activity, frequent masturbation (as you mentioned) is generally not harmful and does not typically cause testicular pain or lumps. However, if you notice any significant changes in your testicles, such as persistent pain, swelling, or changes in size or shape, it’s important to seek medical advice.

In summary, while the symptoms you describe may be related to benign conditions like a varicocele or spermatocele, it’s essential to have a healthcare provider assess your situation to rule out any serious conditions. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent complications and ensure your reproductive health remains intact. Please consider scheduling an appointment with a urologist, who specializes in male reproductive health, to discuss your symptoms and receive appropriate care.
